Teo Ding Yan
Tanjong Katong Secondary School
E Math C6 to B3

My name is Ding Yan from Tanjong Katong Secondary School.
I took Secondary E Math and A Math with Good School Learning Hub. My E Math was a C6 and my A Math was very bad, an F9. For E Math, I was very poor in my foundations, I couldn't understand the concepts and I didn't know how to apply them in questions. There were very simple concepts that I did not understand. For A Math, it required E Math foundation too, and because my E Math foundation was really very weak, A Math made me more confused about it and I couldn't understand anything the teacher said. So, my mum found Good School near our house, and we decided to come here to try it out.
My tutor in Good School Kovan was Mr Zhang, he was a very engaging teacher and he would always share his personal experiences in secondary school to keep us captivated during the lessons. It was a good breather during the lesson because some teachers would just drag on but Mr Zhang talked to us like he was our friend. Mr Zhang would also ask us questions that targeted our weaknesses, so we could truly understand what we could improve on and he also gave us very good notes so that we could revise on our own time. He has the START method where we would look at the question, pick out concepts that we remember and he will teach us the different methods towards solving a certain question. Depending on the criteria of the question, we will continue. There is a checklist of how to solve questions that he would teach us.
My E Math went from a C6 to a B3 and my A Math went from an F9 to a C6 so I passed even for O Levels. I believe that good things must be shared and there are a lot of very helpful notes and very supportive teachers that are in Good School, and they also have small learning classes so it's easier for you to ask questions. They also have self-study tables so we can just go there and do our own revisions. So, I would definitely recommend it.
Aellesia Chong
Punggol Secondary School
E Math D7 to B3

I am Aellesia from Punggol Secondary School.
I attended Good School Kovan for about 4 months before my O Levels. Before that, I was struggling with my E Math; I was struggling with understanding the concepts that were taught in school and will often feel lost in the middle of lessons due to distractions in class, and the teacher's pace. So I struggled to keep up, which made me feel unmotivated during lessons. My grade before joining was around a D7 to a C5, so around the just pass range, and I was struggling to be consistent in my grades.
During the Secondary Math tuition that I had at Good School, I was able to grasp the concept a lot better like for example, trigonometry. I was able to understand the teacher's explanation because of the diagrams that she drew which were quite clear for me to understand. There were also many helpful tips that Ms Ling gave me, which made solving the questions quicker, and it helped me with my time management in my exams. I also find that she is quite encouraging and it made me feel motivated to do better. The small group setting in the tuition centre is also quite ideal for people to focus and there are no distractions, so it is very easy to concentrate during the lesson. Ms Ling also shared experiences beyond the classroom and she is super supportive of our grades and is often checking up on how we do for our exams and things like that or homework. Also, she replies very quickly to our text messages, which I find very helpful and very encouraging.
After joining the class, I was able to consistently get B3 for my math and my prelims, and in the end, I also got a B3 for my O Level E Math. I find that it is quite a big improvement and I would recommend Good School to students who feel discouraged because the environment and tutors here will help to encourage students to find more motivation to study better and continue doing well in their studies.
Kenneth Pang Xue Ze
Broadrick Secondary School
A Math D7 to A2

Hello, I am Kenneth, and I was from Broadrick Secondary School.
Before joining Good School, I was getting grades that were either just pass or fail for my A Math. Before joining Secondary A Math tuition at Good School Learning Hub at the end of Sec 4, I struggled to keep up with the demands of A Math. I found A Math daunting as the concepts seemed extremely complex and insurmountable. As a result, I was consistently getting subpar grades in my exams until I had the help of the committed teacher Mr Zhang.
During my time in Good School Kovan, Mr Zhang was able to help me tackle all of the different topics in A Math with praiseworthy strategies that really made the subject seem a lot less intimidating. Every lesson at Good School maximises the use of its time by ensuring the different needs of its students are best met.
Good School aided my journey towards O Levels as its help extended its reach beyond the four walls of the classroom as Mr Zhang was always happy to help me with problems I faced solving or understanding certain questions I have pertaining to A Math over WhatsApp. All in all, I am extremely grateful for Mr Zhang and Good School for their commitment and the resources that they have provided me with. Their efforts have most definitely helped me in finally obtaining my very first distinction in A Math that I never knew I could have gotten.
Caden Teo Zhao Jie
Bowen Secondary School
E Math E8 to B3

I'm Caden from Bowen Secondary School and I joined Good School Learning Hub at the end of 2021 when I was in Sec 3 during the December holidays. I have been constantly failing E Math, having a score of E8 for my end-of-year exams, which made me finally decide to join Secondary E Math tuition at Good School Learning Hub Kovan - to further improve my results. I was stressed and worried about my E Math which I have been constantly failing and hence, I wanted to finally get the score I want. It was going to be O Level year so I had to find a way to further improve my score. Therefore, I decided to take a holiday class at Good School Learning Hub which really helped me on my journey to O Levels.
At first, it took a while to adapt to the heavy workload that was constantly given every week. But I quickly adapted and persevered with the one goal in mind to do well in my Math exam. Good School has taught me multiple skills such as the START method and helped me understand many different concepts on different topics. My doubts were constantly cleared with Mr Zhang as my tutor, who was very approachable and highly encouraged all of us to approach him during times of need. He was always just a text away. For example, I remembered many instances where I messaged him whenever I needed help, and he would reply with a clear-cut voice message. It was really easy to understand Mr Zhang with his clear-cut explanation every single time.
During the intense revisions, Mr Zhang pushed us all to revise and practice as much Math as we could. As we persevered and put in a lot of hard work, it finally paid off when I got a B3 for my O Levels. I couldn't believe it! As a person who has been failing Math all the time, I finally got a result I was satisfied with. I had a jump of 5 grades and it was all thanks to the hard work and the intense revision that Good School had put in. Mr Zhang also taught us about problem-solving skills that helped and prepped us a lot when it comes to solving hard questions in the exam. With Good School conducive learning environment and awesome teachers, I'm sure many students will excel in the subject that they take up.
I will definitely recommend Good School to my friends and juniors in the future if they are struggling with any subjects because I find that the teaching here is very useful, and the teachers here helped students a lot based on understanding and teaching different methods for different topics.
Ng Shi Ning
Dunman Secondary School
E Math C5 to A2

Hi, my name is Ng Shi Ning and I'm from Dunman Secondary School. Before, my grades were barely just a pass or a failing grade. I used to fail Math before and my best was only a just pass. Actually, this was my father and mother's decision, I don't know how they found Good School Kovan but they just told me one day: "We have this Math tuition that we want you to try. Hopefully, it'll help you to improve." They just told me to go, so I did.
Honestly, during the Secondary E Math lessons at Good School, they taught the Express syllabus and not the NA syllabus, so obviously when I first went in, I found it really difficult and hard because I wasn't used to the curriculum. But my teacher was very clear in his instructions and he had very certain methods and ways to help solve problems that I used to struggle with. And I think it's because I went through the Express curriculum, so I went through something that was harder than I was expected to do. So when I went back to school and did the test papers, it was actually a bit easier which did help a lot too. I do remember this one method that was from a long time ago. I used to struggle a lot with algebra and especially this thing called "make the letters a subject", one of the specific letters. I remembered Mr Zhang letting us know about this "Romeo and Juliet" method, which honestly I found quite helpful because at that time I really didn't know how to do it and didn't understand. My answers were usually very weird and different. But because Mr Zhang did explain it, and I finally used the correct method to help me do it and I managed to solve it quite easily.
For N Levels, my Math grade was an A2. Yes, I would definitely recommend my friends to join Good School, because I feel like it's a very conducive environment and the teachers there are kind of helpful. In my case, Mr Zhang gave us this specific book that he wrote which I found really useful because it had all the tips and methods on how to solve different kinds of math problems.
Presha Janalle R
Cedar Girls' Secondary School
A Math C6 to B4

Hello, my name is Presha Janalle and I am from Cedar Girls' Secondary School.
Before joining Good School Learning Hub, my A Math grades were a borderline fail, from F9 to C6 range. Before I joined Good School, I struggled to keep up with my school’s pace and I would fall behind during our math lessons as there were many concepts to comprehend for a chapter.
When I joined Good School Kovan for Secondary A Math lessons, Mr Zhang taught me how to identify the different question types and solve them using the START model and process them accordingly. The strategies and tips given were really easy to understand and apply. One thing that makes Mr Zhang stand out from our school teachers is that he knows the areas that we will potentially find confusing and make mistakes. Therefore he will consciously put in the effort to help find ways to make it easier for us to learn. And that is why, after joining Good School, I found a love for A Math and he has made it easier to grasp the whole concept itself. After joining Good School, my grades were still quite low as I had other CCAs and other commitments that I was involved in so I couldn't keep up with whatever work was given. But after my CCA stopped, my grades slowly improved from an F9 to C6 where I didn't fail.
For prelims, I still scored an F9 and when it came to O Levels, I scored a B4 and improved by 5 grades. I actually would recommend anyone who needs help in A Math to join Good School like my juniors from my school because it is compulsory to take A Math in my school. I know my school is known to be very fast when they go through each topic, so anyone from my school that needs help in A Math can come to Good School because you will have lessons once a week.
Shannon Lin Yi Xuan
North Vista Secondary School
A Math D7 to A2

Hi, I am Shannon and I am from North Vista Secondary School. I got a raw score of 16 for my O Levels.
Some issues that I faced before joining Good School were that I was unable to keep up with the pace my teachers were going at as it was too fast and I am a slow learner. Hence, I faced many difficulties with A Math, and I also did not get the right concepts. Before joining Good School Kovan for Secondary A Math tuition, I scored C6 and D7 for my mid-year exams and prelims respectively.
Lessons in Good School are different in the sense that the they progress at a much slower pace and I am able to ask questions instantly when I am in doubt as the teacher is directly in front of me, as opposed to in school where the teacher is very far away and you will feel a bit "paiseh" to ask. In addition, Good School also helped me to strengthen my fundamentals. What I liked about the lessons is that Mr Zhang will record the lesson and privately send me the video afterwards. I was able to refer back to the video when redoing the practices he sent. Not only that, but he is very entertaining as well. The class size is also very small which makes the class very conducive for learning. I feel that having a small class size will mean that there will be more interactions made during lessons which will definitely make my learning more effective.
I had a 5 grade improvement for A Math and managed to score an A2 for O Levels. I would definitely recommend Good School to my friends since I find that not only does Good School have a conducive study environment as they also have a study area outside the classroom, but also very nice teachers who motivated me to do better to not disappoint them and waste their hard work in teaching me.
Bryan Lim Aik Sian
Punggol Secondary School
E Math A2 to A1

Before joining Good School Learning Hub at Kovan, I found the pacing during math lessons too fast for me to be able to concentrate and understand key concepts during lessons.
The pacing in Good School's secondary E Math lessons was easy for me to understand and the tutor was very understanding and always helped me with the challenges I face when solving questions. The way Mdm Ling explains the solution is also easy to remember and I am able to use the techniques taught effectively in exams. Good School also teaches me formulas that are not really mentioned during lessons. The teaching style of my tutor, Mdm Ling is also very encouraging as she is very supportive towards me as her student and always gives me challenging questions during lessons to broaden my view of questions that can come out for the O Level exams.
The lessons and overall environment at Good School Learning Hub have helped me continuously get distinctions for the subject. I would recommend this tuition to my juniors who are currently struggling to keep up with lessons.
Lim Wei Han
Yuying Secondary School
E Math E8 to C5

For Math, I was unable to understand what the teachers in school are teaching and are not able to clarify them too. Therefore, I had not passed Math.
After joining Good School Kovan for Secondary E Math tuition, I was able to get a proper understanding of the issues I do not get as well as learn new methods for answering questions during exams which are easy to remember. My tutor, Mr Zhang, kept ensuring that I was paying attention and made sure that questions were asked, ensuring that the class knew what was going on at all times. The small class size ensures that he had enough of his attention going around for everyone and was able to pay attention to my struggles.
Great support was received from my tutor as I was able to clarify any doubts after classes, enabling me to get a 2 grade improvement for Mathematics.
Cherilynn Chua
Tanjong Katong Girls School
E Math D7 to A2
A Math F9 to B3

Hi, I'm Cherilynn Chua from Tanjong Katong Girls School's class of 2022.
During both my E Math and A Math lessons in school, I constantly struggled to understand and keep up with the fast pace of teaching. Furthermore, as there was limited lesson time, I was unable to fully clarify my doubts with my teachers despite having an allocated consultation time. For E Math specifically, I had constantly made careless mistakes in my work and that resulted in my grades dropping drastically. I constantly left work to be done at the last minute while prioritising other subjects. Before joining Good School, my grades were at a record low, scoring a F9 in E Math and a D7 in A Math.
During my Secondary E Math and A Math lessons at Good School Kovan, Mr Zhang explained every mathematical concept in detail, guiding me alongside the guidebooks that he had released. He would ensure we understood the fundamentals before moving on to a more intermediate level of problem solving. Aside from lesson time, he would answer any of my queries regarding the subjects on Whatsapp. All the help received finally paid off when I received my O Level results. I had a 7 grade improvement in E Math and a 4 grade improvement in A Math. All in all, I managed to score A2 for my E Math, and B3 for A Math.
I would definitely recommend Good School to my juniors due to the huge amount of support I had received. From practice questions to the useful guidebooks Mr Zhang had written, the help given allowed me to better understand my weak points and how I could improve.
Chua Kai Yi
Catholic High School
A Math B4 to A1

For A Math, I did not understand the fundamentals such as how to solve simultaneous equations due to the fast pace of teaching in my school, and I had difficulties clarifying my doubts due to complications caused by Covid-19 during that period of time. This resulted in my poor result of C5 at the end-of-year exam since I was quite clueless about what was going on.
Mr Zhang was able to teach new topics in a way that is easily digestible as well as teach us some tips and tricks, e.g how to use the calculator more efficiently to help in binomial questions. This allowed me to understand and solve math problems more easily and quickly. Furthermore, I feel that the emphasis on practising through the homework he issued each week benefited me greatly as it allowed me to be more familiar and comfortable with the math concepts taught. Finally, Mr Zhang also dedicates enough time each lesson to go through any problems faced by students when doing the homework, which certainly helped in clarifying any doubts I had.
After attending the Secondary A Math tuition class at Good School Kovan, I was able to learn concepts before my school teachers taught them, thus allowing me to feel more confident in my math abilities since I was able to learn the concepts twice, once in tuition and another time in school. I also felt less stressed, since I did not feel like I was falling behind my peers. This tuition class helped me to build my foundation for math, allowing me to perform better in E Math too.
Since attending the tuition class, I was able to score A1s for all my school A Math examinations as well as enabling me to achieve A1 for the O Level examination. I would recommend this class for juniors that are currently unable to solve math problems easily and find it difficult to understand math concepts. However, they must still be willing to put in the work to try and finish all the homework assigned in order to make their time in this class worth it.
Kwok Kye Zen
Dunman Secondary School
A Math F9 to B4

Hi, I'm Kwok Kye Zen from Dunman Secondary School.
I've been scoring F9 for my WAs and have mostly failed my tests. Once I enrolled for A Math tuition at Good School Kovan, it was easier to understand A Math as the lessons were really helpful. The basics and fundamentals were taught so that I could have an edge in the exams, the notes were also quite sufficient as well consisting of both formulas and questions that were went through with the tutor. Mr Zhang's lesson delivery was very easy to understand and it makes classes entertaining and fun, saving us from dozing off due to tedious math equations while also making sure that no one in the class was lacking behind. The classroom provided was comfortable and the class size is small. My questions and doubts have always been clarified quickly during lessons or through WhatsApp.
Though I did not manage to score an A, I had a 5 grade improvement, I scored B4 for my O Level A Math. I would definitely recommend Good School due to the friendly and patient teachers, the comfortable environment as well as the easy-to-understand explanations and notes given.
