English B4 to A2

In English, I constantly struggled with determining which writing techniques to use and was uncertain about the appropriate formats, which was frustrating. I scored a B4 for English in my Sec 3 End-of-Year exams.

Upon joining Good School Learning Hub, I realized the Secondary English lessons at Good School Kovan were different because the tutor employed various formulas to simplify approaching questions. I appreciate the lessons as Mr Tan provided us with regular feedback on our work, allowing us to learn from our mistakes. The classroom was spacious, and since there weren't many students, there were plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

After joining Good School, I experienced a two-grade improvement and scored an A2 for my O level.

For Secondary English, I didn't know how to prepare properly for exams and usually didn't study for them. However, after joining Good School Kovan, I learned how to use the provided formulas and study effectively. As a result, I experienced a four-grade improvement and scored a B3 for O levels. I highly recommend this tuition centre to my friends as they would find the formulas useful and could also improve their English.

For secondary math, I struggled to understand my previous teacher as she explained concepts in a confusing and complex manner. Whenever I asked her a question, she would redirect it back to me without providing a clear answer. Consequently, my grades consistently hovered around C6 and C5, resulting in an overall C5 score. However, after switching to a new tutor, my experience with math drastically improved. The lessons became much clearer, with the tutor avoiding overwhelming amounts of homework, typically assigning around 10 questions per lesson. In addition to teaching math, Mr Zhang shares anecdotes from his own life and imparts valuable lessons, offering a refreshing break from problem-solving. Furthermore, he actively encourages student participation and maintains a small class size, making it easy for me to ask questions both in-person and online. Thanks to this change, I achieved a two-grade improvement and scored an A2 for O-level math. I highly recommend Mr Zhang at Good School Kovan because of his effective teaching methods and supportive approach.

I would like to share my positive experience with Good School Learning Hub as a Normal Academic student, particularly regarding Mathematics. I began attending their Secondary E Math classes towards the end of Secondary 2 due to ongoing struggles with the subject. Before joining Good School, I consistently failed Mathematics, finding it challenging to comprehend questions and apply formulas to solve word problems, resulting in a U grade.

However, upon joining Mr. Zhang's class at Good School Kovan, my Mathematics performance improved significantly. Throughout Secondary 3 and the initial months of Secondary 4, I continued to excel. Mr. Zhang's teaching method was instrumental in enhancing my understanding of mathematical concepts. His classes were informative, and he made sure to clarify my doubts thoroughly before progressing to new topics. Additionally, his teaching style was engaging and infused with humor, making the lessons enjoyable.

Despite facing challenges during revision for my prelims and N-level exams, I experienced a remarkable two-grade improvement. Ultimately, I achieved a grade 4 in Mathematics for my N-level exams, all thanks to Mr. Zhang's guidance and support.

For Secondary English, I didn't realize there were formulas like in Math. I always thought English was a subject that could only be improved through reading. However, after making a few mistakes and with the continuous support of my teacher Mr Tan Wei Jie, I learned the formulas. As a result, I experienced a two-grade improvement and scored a B4 for my O-levels in English. I miss my time in those lessons at GSLH Kovan.

In the past, I believed that English was a difficult subject to study for. It seemed that despite putting in a similar amount of time as other subjects, the results were only a fraction of what could be achieved in those subjects. Before joining Good School Kovan, I could somewhat consistently get B's for Secondary English, which was already above average in the school. However, B's just weren't comparable to the elusive A1, so I knew I had to seek help and improve. What sets Good School apart from other schools and tuitions is the deployment of formulas that are extremely effective in yielding results. These formulas transformed English into a subject that could be studied for, which was crucial for learning. Mr. Tan, our teacher, is also caring and entertaining, making lessons engaging and not too stressful. His use of diagrams and models greatly aids in making the formulas easy to remember, especially for those who can easily visualize pictures. Thanks to Good School and Mr. Tan's guidance, I managed to obtain an A1 for English O-Levels.

Before joining Good School, I consistently scored an A2 in English but struggled to reach an A1.

However, upon enrolling at Good School Kovan, I learned various techniques that elevated my Secondary English grade from an A2 to an A1.

Throughout my lessons at Good School Kovan with Ms Sarah, I gained a deeper understanding of the structure for English composition.

While I scored an A2 before joining Good School, after enrolling, my grade quickly improved to an A1.

I used to think that English was a subject that did not need to be studied. However, there were various ways to conquer the different types of questions.

At Good School Learning Hub, the lessons are also generally easier to understand as Mr Tan uses different types of formula to help us to understand. I find his lessons really interesting because unlike other tuitions, he would share with us news articles before starting the lesson. This is especially beneficial to me as I do not often read the news and this will help me in oral.

I had a two grade improvement for Secondary English and scored a grade 3 for my N levels. I would recommended Good School to my friends as I think everyone will be able to benefit from the lessons.

During English lessons at school, I was unsure of how to use proper grammar and lacked practice. I scored a C6 for Secondary English in the middle of the year.

The model essays provided to me were excellent, allowing me to learn more vocabulary and practice my oral skills with Ms. Sarah at Good School Tampines. She gave me valuable tips on improving my tone and choice of words, using examples such as speaking in an enthusiastic tone like Nas Daily. The classroom was also small and conducive for learning.

I would recommend Good School because I have improved by three grades since joining, and it provided me with more opportunities to practice English.

For Secondary English, I struggled with knowing how to study effectively, particularly in scoring well for different sections of the paper, such as writing essays. I often faced difficulties managing my time and generating ideas. I used to believe that simply reading through past year papers was sufficient. My end-of-year exam score was 53/100, and I consistently hovered between just passing and failing by a small margin.

However, after joining Good School Kovan, I learned techniques and formulas that helped me plan better compositions. I found myself finishing my compositions earlier than expected and with more developed ideas. For comprehension, I became adept at identifying question types and answering them accordingly. The lessons were engaging, thanks to the motivating and interesting Mr Tan. This newfound motivation has encouraged me to study better for English.

As a result, I achieved a two-grade improvement and scored a B4 for my N level English. I would definitely recommend Good School to my peers, especially if their English skills are still weak, as it has been incredibly helpful and beneficial.

Before I joined Good School, I didn’t understand why I wasn’t scoring well for Secondary English and didn’t know how to approach my weaknesses. I scored C5 before I entered Good School Tampines.

Good School goes into detail about what makes an essay good. They don’t only talk about the grammar / vocabulary but also emphasise a lot of details that most schools do not talk about. I liked that the teacher, Ms Sarah, was really friendly and helpful. She would find stories that relate to the story or give us interesting facts to keep us entertained. I like that they allow students to enter the centre at an earlier timing to study as it allows me to be productive while waiting for tuition to start. I like that I could easily message Ms Sarah via WhatsApp for any questions or doubts I have.

I had a 2 grade improvement & scored B3 for my O Level.

I always believed that English could only be improved through extensive reading and practice, without realizing there were patterns and strategies to answering comprehension questions. As a result, I consistently scored no more than 25 marks for comprehension.

However, Ms. Sarah at Good School Tampines taught us various techniques for Paper 1 (composition and Situational Writing), Paper 2 (comprehension), and Paper 4 (oral). Initially, it was challenging for me to incorporate techniques such as "show, not tell" forms in my compositions. With the help of Ms. Sarah's examples and feedback, I gradually mastered these techniques and began using them frequently in my writing. For Paper 2, Ms. Sarah patiently explained the strategies for answering comprehension questions and ensured that everyone could catch up. Additionally, she would send us real-life examples from newspapers through WhatsApp to include in our essays, which significantly improved my scores.

Thanks to Ms. Sarah's guidance, I experienced a three-grade improvement and scored a B3 for my O levels. I highly recommend Good School because Ms. Sarah genuinely tries her best to help us achieve better results and was clear about the strengths and weaknesses of each student.

I always thought that English was a subject in which you don’t have to study to improve as it is a language, and I thought that I just had to read books/listen to podcasts. I scored D7 for my Secondary English WA2.

It was comprehension, which was my weakest component in English. Ms Sarah at Good School Tampines taught us techniques and tips to answer different comprehension questions and would always do her best to make sure that we are calm before each exam. she gave us meditation tips to calm down, and public speaking tips before our oral exam.

I went from a D7 to a B3, I actually did recommend 3 friends to join Good School before our O Levels. I would still recommend people to join Good School as there really is a difference in what and how Good School teaches compared to what we are taught in school. Thank you Ms Sarah for always sharing with us weird and interesting news and fun stories! Your lessons are super fun and thank you for helping me make a significant improvement in my English grade!

Before joining Good School Kovan, I faced many challenges with Secondary English, struggling to achieve good grades and often receiving borderline passes. In particular, I struggled with Paper 2 (comprehension) and couldn't pass it, even up to my prelims. I only managed to attain a C6 in English for my prelims.

However, upon joining Good School, I learned various question types and techniques to maximize my performance, such as logic and modal reasoning. Mr. Tan would always start the class with interesting facts or news from the Straits Times to pique our interest and prepare us for the lesson. Despite joining the tuition late in the year, Mr. Tan was patient and regularly checked on me to ensure I wasn't lost or unsure about what to do. He also took the time after class to review my prelims paper and identify mistakes, helping me avoid them during O levels. With a small class size, I could focus better as Mr. Tan didn't need to divide his attention among many students.

As a result of this personalized attention and effective teaching, I achieved a two-grade improvement from my prelims to O levels. I highly recommend Good School because it provides effective techniques taught by the tutor to maximize marks, all while ensuring classes are engaging and informative. Every class is valuable, and you'll always learn something new.Solid work, Mr. Tan! 💪

English B4 to A2

I struggled with writing and oral communication, lacking the necessary vocabulary and organization of my thoughts. Comprehension posed another challenge, as I often found it difficult to grasp meanings and select the correct points from passages to answer questions. Initially, I believed that English was solely about extensive reading. I consistently failed class tests and only managed to achieve a B4 in my end-of-year examinations.

However, at Good School, lessons were not focused solely on memorization; instead, they included the use of logic models and formulas. Demonstrations followed by classwork made it easier for me to understand and eventually apply the techniques. I no longer felt lost when tackling comprehension questions or planning for essays and oral presentations. Mr. Tan also incorporated a variety of materials, such as news sharing and small tests on Mentimeter, enriching the learning experience. The lessons were engaging, and the atmosphere was supportive and open. With a small class size, I felt comfortable speaking up and asking questions. I could clarify my doubts during and after lessons through WhatsApp. His prompt and constructive feedback, along with practical suggestions for improvement, were invaluable.

As a result of about two years of Secondary English lessons at Good School Kovan, including holiday programs, I achieved a two-grade improvement and scored an A2 for English during O levels. I highly recommend Good School because the lessons helped me answer English papers with more ease and confidence. The teaching methods and techniques were clear and effective, focusing on every component of the subject. Throughout the lessons, I received useful guidance and support

I didn’t think English tuition would work as I was under the impression that he just needed to read more and do more assessment books. When my son’s result dipped in the first half of 2023, I panicked and that’s when I decided to enroll him at Good School Tampines.

In Good School, Teacher Justtin taught him the techniques to score in his composition and the pitfalls to look out for. He kept the lessons interesting and my son was always looking forward to attending his Primary English lessons. He achieved an AL3 in his PSLE which was a 3-grades jump in 6 months. We were thrilled and proud of this improvement and achievement.

I would recommend Good School as his results show how English tuition can be effective if you meet a good teacher.

Before joining Good School Kovan for Primary Science tuition, I was scoring lower than expected on my tests. After joining Good School, I learnt the technique to answer open-ended questions. My tutor, Mr Justtin Tan, emphasised including the correct keywords in the answer. I could also ask questions freely in class. Mr Tan would answer all of them and make sure I understood entirely before continuing with the lesson.

Thanks to Good School and Mr Tan, my science improved a lot and I scored an AL1 for PSLE.

For English, I didn't understand the proper answering techniques to answer certain sections of a paper and relied on guessing When I joined Good School, I realised there were a lot of simple techniques to us. The teacher Mr tan was very supportive and gave me advice to learn. Even though I wasn't very cooperative, I learnt a lot from him.

Thanks to Good School, I kept my grades up and got an AL2 for PSLE English.

I didn’t know that there were methods for answering grammar questions and used to answer through what I felt was right. By doing this, I would always get 1 or 2 of the tricky questions wrong in each grammar section as using what I felt was right would cause me to get the wrong answer. When taking Good School lessons with Mr Justtin Tan at Kovan, he taught me all of the grammar rules and methods to ensure that I got high marks for the grammar sections. This allowed me to studied properly for English.  Besides grammar, Mr Tan also advised us to improve our vocabulary through reading more books. Not only was Mr Tan a great teacher, he was also a funny and entertaining one, often bringing me and my classmates much laughter while learning in his class. He also shared a lot of other information that was not about English when it was relevant, which only made his lessons more entertaining. I had a 2-grade improvement and scored an AL1 for my PSLE English. I would recommend Good School to anyone who is struggling in English. Many new methods were taught which were also what helped me to achieve my desired grade for PSLE. Besides the methods taught for Paper 2 in English, Good School also teaches many methods to get more marks in Paper 1, one of which is by teaching us numerous writing strategies.

Before joining Good School, I didn't really know the grammar rules for English. I also didn't know good vocabulary and good phrases for composition writing and therefore my Primary English and Science grades weren't that good. My English was an AL4 and Science was an AL4 too. I found Good School's lessons to be very engaging and they kept me at full attention. The explanations of topics were very clear and easy to understand. During lessons, the surroundings was also very quiet which created a conducive learning environment for us to study and learn in. After joining Good School Kovan, I scored AL2s for both English and Science during PSLE. I would recommend Good School to my friends as I feel that they would also make an improvement in their studies as well. They would also be more interested in the subjects as the lessons were very engaging which would help them to spark interest in a certain subject.

Before joining Good School, I didn't understand the topics and ways to answer the different questions. Hence, I scored an AL4 for Science. The lessons at Good School were very engaging and gave us a better understanding for the subject of Science. They also increased our interest in science and made us want to learn more on our own. After joining Good School Kovan, I scored an AL2 for Science during PSLE. I would recommend Good School to my friends as I think that they will share the same sentiments as me.

I scored an AL3 before joining Good School Tampines in Primary 4. My English teacher at school had many students with different problems to look after and always moved too fast and I was not able to clarify my doubts when I had them. The lessons at Good School helped me improve as the class only consisted of a small number of students and everyone was given the attention that they deserved. The friendly and encouraging environment in the class also allowed shy students to voice their opinions and troubles. Teacher Justtin was able to get the class to understand and memorise the concepts better by coming up with creative ways for the students to have fun while learning at the same time. He also helped different students with their personal needs and helped everyone improve by taking more initiative in his lesson planning. Teacher Justtin would always welcome questions and would always explain them clearly so that the students would fully understand and not be confused as many different methods can be overwhelming at times.

I have joined Good School since Primary 4 and I believe that over those 3 years, I have improved greatly and not only memorised but fully understood the methods being taught as I know when and where to apply them in my daily work. For my prelims, I scored an AL4 for my English. I was pretty devastated but teacher Justtin continued to encourage me and in the end, I managed to score an AL2 for English for PSLE.

I scored an AL5 for my English before joining Good School and an AL2 for PSLE after taking Primary English lessons at Good School Tampines. It was like a miracle really as I have not scored in the AL1-3 range before.

The tutor, Mr Justtin Tan, taught us in a very fun way and I enjoyed the lessons at Good School more than the other tuitions I went to before.

I went from a total AL19 in prelim to a total AL10 in PSLE, which is a 9-grade improvement so it was good. I would recommend other people to join Good School because I think they will too like the lessons taught by Mr Tan.

I didn't understand many Primary English concepts and I was very confused in English, not knowing any rules at all. I always scored a 50-60+ or an AL6. For English, I was able to understand the rules and be able to memorise them because my tutor, Mr Justtin Tan, made it easier and thought of a fun way to phrase his teaching. He makes the lessons fun instead of boring old-school teaching. The small number of students in one class allowed the tutor to focus more on each student which was a good thing. I was able to clear my confusion about English concepts like tenses, verbs, and adverbs because I didn't know any of them and it was a big issue hindering my progress. Mr Tan taught me all those rules and concepts in a fun way. I had a 2-grade improvement and scored an AL4 for my PSLE English. I would recommend Good School to my friends as it helped me in my studies and lessons are never boring.

Before joining Good School Tampines, I had trouble phrasing my answers, and my concepts of Primary Science were bad. I didn't understand what my school teacher was saying and hence I scored an AL6. Mr Tan helped me to know what and how to memorise which helped me a lot. He also teaches in a way that although it's boring, I'll still benefit from it. I was able to understand why my answers needed to be phrased like that and how I should face each question, which was very useful. I had a 2-grade improvement and scored an AL4 for my PSLE Science. I would recommend Good School because of its good environment and because it actually helped. I never thought I could get 70 and above for the subject of science.
