English A1

I didn’t know that there were methods for answering comprehension questions and was always unable to get the complete answers to the questions. I was always missing that one part of the answer that would allow me to get the full marks for that question. I also didn’t know that there were techniques that could be used during summary that could help me paraphrase my words and make my sentence structure much more fluent. I scored a B3 for my end of year examinations in Secondary 3.
When taking lessons in Good School Kovan, I was able to study English predictably using the logic modelling and formulas taught. Even though I joined later in the year, I was still able to catch up with the rest of my classmates with the extra lessons that were conducted during the school holidays. The tutor is able to teach in a way that makes it easy to understand and digest the techniques that are taught to us. The lessons are also fun and engaging as Mr Tan would link the techniques to the scripts of some movies. One such example is using a clip from the movie “Sherlock Holmes” to teach us how to be more descriptive when writing our essays.
The class size is small and all the students are able to receive adequate attention from the tutor and the whole class is able to move ahead in the lessons together. I was able to get help from Mr Tan even outside lesson timings as I could contact him via Whatsapp if I still had any doubts on what was taught during the lessons or when I needed assistance with my school work.
I had a 2-grade improvement and scored an A1 for my O level English. I would recommend Good School to the people around me because the techniques that were taught are effective and helped me to better answer the questions in Paper 2 which was the component that I was the weakest at. There were also lessons for essay writing and oral which helped me to better express myself in both writing and words.

Before attending tuition lessons in Good School Kovan, I had many problems in English, including vocabulary, some complex grammar and basic comprehension skills. I never knew what to study for the subject, since there was not much content. School lessons did not help either. They were plain and boring and the teacher there can never deliver the points out in a way that I can understand. However, in Good School, lessons were made simple and ensured that students understand the concepts before moving on.
Mr Tan's lectures were alot more interactive and engaging compared to lessons in school. The notes given are very detailed so that it is easy to remember certain concepts. Furthermore, since school schedules are mostly extremely hectic, students will inevitably feel lethargic, so he tries to lighten up the atmosphere. The centre is also extremely good. Not only is it spacious, but also the classrooms allow students to better focus on their work and not get distracted. The support given is alot more accessible whenever questions appear until they are clarified. Mr Tan even provided extra editing lectures outside tuition timings to cater to the students' needs! Because of all these, I ended up getting an A2 from a C5 after around two years.
I would definitely reccomend Good School because the lessons conducted are more engaing unlike school lessons. The tutors make sure that students understand as much as possible about the topics covered, especially outside lessons. They are passionate about teaching, and if there is cooperation between the student and the tutor, the improvement made will be worth the effort

English A2

Before I attended Good School, I often struggled with English especially in Sec 3. I made a slight improvement to a B4 in Sec 4 but it wasn't long before I realised my grades were stagnating. Although I realised I kept repeating mistakes, I didn't know how to work on them and get rid of them. For English, I usually attempted questions based on my own feeling and I didn't understand the proper formats and structures. I think what really pulled me down was that I wasn't aware of how to score and how my work was being graded. I couldn't understand what kept me at a B4 instead of a B3 or A2. That's when my tutor Mr Tan came in.
I enrolled into Good School Kovan after my mother attended a talk here. Lessons here were exact, precise and very targeted compared to the ones back in school. My tutor knew what were our errors in our work and all our bad habits. He knew how to point them out and make us aware of them. He also introduced helpful structures or guidelines for us to follow to always ensure maximum scoring in our work. PEEL structures and guidelines on how many sentences there should be are just some things that saved me. The classes were very small too. This allowed everyone to receive ample attention from the tutor while minimising distractions from peers. Most importantly, he was very patient which really encouraged me to try his methods even if I wasn't used to them. He gave me the time and space for trial-and-error. And when I finally caught the pattern he would point it out and make sure I knew that I got it exactly. If I didn't get it right he would be calm and made sure I knew what was wrong and how to fix it.
It isn't a spectacular jump from B4 to A2 but I really struggled to breakout from the B4 grade between CA1 to prelims. Yes, I stayed at B4 for the longest time and it was demoralising. Luckily Mr Tan was there to keep pushing me forward. At the final push, during 'O's, I made the jump and hit A2. I definitely would recommend Good School because of its encouragement.

Before, I never knew how to prepare for English exams and I always go by feeling to get the answers. At Good School Kovan, the teaching is clear and ideas are broken down effectively to make learning easier. The logic modelling and formulas taught are simple to apply and removes ay guesswork. I do not need to go by feeling and can now accurately answer questions with certainty.
My tutor, Mr Tan, is very helpful and always address my concerns promptly and effectively. He goes beyond just teaching the content but also shares with the class on steps on how to be a better learner. During exam period, he takes time to give us oral practice sessions to improve on our oral. He also helps to mark and edit our essay when we send it to him on Whatsapp. Furthermore, the centre provides a conducive study environment by having a study area. These efforts by him helped me improve my Secondary English grade from a C6 to B3 for my O level.
I would definitely recommend Good School to my juniors as the tutors are definitely going to be the one that can give you the results that you are looking for as long as you follow the methods taught and diligently put in the effort to practice and learn.

At first, I had troubles with sentence structure, grammar, vocab etc. After joining Good School Kovan, my tutor's (Mr Tan) lessons are easy to understand and it helps me alot. The methods taught to me were something I did not expect.
The environment always give me the mood to study and it is very convenient to have a study area. I was failing Secondary English till I came here, and getting A2 in ' N ' levels is honestly out of this world. I would definitely recommend Good School to my friends.

Before the class, I did not know that there was a way to study English properly or how to improve the skills taught. Mr Tan makes lessons interesting and fun while being able to feed me with enough practice and skills. The methodology used is very easy to follow and remember as the notes are provided. The ability to ask questions anytime over whatsapp was also really useful and efficient. After the lessons, I was able to apply the skills effectively and got a B3 for English.

I was worried about my English because I didn't know if I was studying for it in the right way and I had terrible teachers in school. My tutor really analyzed the language very thoroughly and taught it in a very clear and concise manner such that I no longer felt like I was fumbling around in the dark anymore. I felt sure of myself and grew to love the English language more as a result. I improved from C5 to A1. I would recommend Mr Tan's tuition class to my friends and juniors because his methods are effective.

I did not know how to study and went by feeling to know if the answer is correct. School lessons were generalised and no attention given to specific people in detail while this was in a smaller group and attention was given to everyone. There are different techniques which are useful and easy to understand and apply. After joining GS Kovan, I am able to answer questions knowing that I'm definitely correct. There is alot of food which keeps us awake after school and the small class size is useful as more attention is given. Online lessons like the editing was really good as my questions get answered even after class. I had a 5 grade improvement from E8 to B3. I would recommend GS as the tutors are using methods that definitely work and guarantee results.

Before, I did not know how to study to improve my grades for Secondary English. My grades have constantly been stagnant no matter how my school teacher tried to help me. However, after I joined Good School Kovan, I learnt various methods to score easily in English. Also, my grammar improved within a short period of time thanks to my tutor who consistently marked my essays I whatsapped him. He really steps out of his comfort zone to go an extra mile to help me.
Despite having many students, Mr Tan tries his best to reply me as soon as possible which played a huge role in me correcting my mistakes quickly before it became an unconscious habit. His lessons are also really interesting and all minded. I had never felt bored during his lessons as he would crack some jokes in class to keep us awake but still being relevant to the lesson at the same time. Our answers were all taken into account for during class discussions. Even if I wasn't outspoken and did not dare to voice out, he makes sure to go around to check our answers and clearly explains why the answers are accepted or not, leaving no one in doubt.
The centre's environment is very good as there is a study corner for me to study. Hence, I am able to come early to do my school work or stay behind after class whenever I wish to. Furthermore, there is a snacks corner where we can purchase snacks whenever we are hungry, making it a home-like place to study in. The class size is also small which makes sure all the students get sufficient attention and comfortable to voice out and clarify our doubts.
The support provided is far beyond what anyone can think. I could Whatsapp him questions anytime and he would reply it very quickly. After lessons, he would willingly stay back to clarify our doubts. Since I joined later, he gave me extra lessons if there are questions and crash courses to help me catch up. I improved 2 grades in 4 months from C5 to B3. I would definitely recommend this to my friends as long as you work with the tutor, with sufficient time, an A1 is guaranteed.

Was unsure about formats and had limited vocabulary. Did not know if I was on the right track at all. The tutor is able to provide more attention for people who are weaker and give reliable " tips " and shortcuts to memorising formats better. At first, it may be confusing but later, it is much easier.
Mr Tan is very entertaining, keeps lesson interesting so students will not be bored. Very willing to stay back and advise more for the weaker students. Love the aircon and study corners. Improved from being stagnant at C5 to B3

At first, I thought English was a 'go-by-feeling' type of subject. I also only thought that only one's vocabulary and by reading up more could one truly improve their English standard, but i never knew the amount of detail that the subject demanded of me and that's when I decided to join extra tuition classes. Lessons taught here at Good School Kovan are much more in-depth, and targeted at our individual difficulties, such that there is maximum output in our results due to such efficient learning.
The steps taught in class are clear and precise that allow me to understand how to better answer a question or write my essay more clearly. As the results for english are not immediate, it took me awhile to actually see them. However, what I noticed the most was my style of essays had tremendously improved as well as my editing and soon later, my comprehension too saw some improvement. Eventually, I made an improvement from C6 to A2 at O levels and started when I was in sec 2.

My concerns were that EL is a language, hence it is not possible to just keep doing practise papers & be able to excel in EL. Also, in school, the teacher just made sure that so long as she went through the particular lesson for that day, she was done. Therefore, not much attention was given in school.
My tutor (Mr Tan) always emphasized the PEEL method when in class, & at GS Kovan, he always makes sure that I fully understand whatever that he is teaching.
At GS, there is a study corner & we are able to sit down there and study. Whenever we need help, the teachers are just right there to help us. Also, there is a minimart for us students to buy snacks whenever we are feeling tired & need a little snack to wake us up. GS provides very good support e.g. being able to Whatsapp the teachers whenever we need help, & they will always reply us as soon as possible. I jumped 3 grades in a span of 2 months. I would definitely recommend GS to the others as the tutors here are so supportive & as long as you are willing to work along with the tutors, you will get the results that you want to achieve.

I never knew that English could be taught and I thought you had to be born with the skill to do well in English. My tutor is a very attentive teacher and he makes sure everyone understands and knows how to apply what he is teaching. School usually isn't very thorough and they just brush through everything. Mr Tan is very interactive and lively which always brings up the mood in class and he knows when to get serious so that everyone isn't too relaxed which helps us absorb our knowledge. In lessons, there is always work to do to make sure we know what he's teaching and he will always make sure we understand this structure. GSLH Kovan is a very conducive environment to study in and also not too serious. Mr Tan is always very quick to respond to any queries no matter during lesson or through Whatsapp. I went from a C6 to B3 in 1 year and my results had never dropped. I would definitely recommed GSLH to others.

Before joining Good School Kovan, I could barely answer questions in paper 2 and my essays were not good in terms of use of vocabulary and even if I read numerous amount of books. I failed both my end of year and bridging English papers with a D7.
After joining Good School, although I could not catch up with the steps for the techniques fast, I slowly understood the ways to answer the questions and was able to answer them with the help of my teacher.
Mr Tan was always very patient and made sure that everyone was on track. The centre had a very conducive environment and even had a space for students to come in earlier than their lessons to do some homework and catch up on their revision which was really convenient as I spent some time there studying peacefully. Mr Tan would answer to my questions on WhatsApp as soon as possible even if the lessons were online.
I had a 4 grade improvement from a D7 to a B3. I would definitely recommend Good School to my friends and juniors as I really felt that the lessons were very beneficial for me especially.

My tutor is really patient despite me fluctuating. He uses methods and tips to teach us more about the English language, making it easier to understand the concepts of English. I have never really studied this subject as a whole before but after attending Mr Tan's lessons, I was enlightened at the fact that English is a subject that indeed requires effort.
Although I didn’t do as well as I wanted to, I was still happy with my performance because I understood and made good use of the methods that he taught as well as the list of good words that we were being provided. After attending tuition at Good School Kovan, it made English less intimidating.

Before Secondary English tuition at Good School Learning Hub Kovan, I used to do my English work without thinking much, never knowing that there was a formula to solve questions and always going by my gut. Lessons here are much more engaging and interactive than in school, and there are a lot more skills that are being taught here. Mr Tan explains the concepts of the skills in detail, and it is always very fun to attend his classes. I am able to apply the knowledge I have learnt from him. This cente has created a very conducive environment to study at, and it is very lively and clean. I am also able to gain support from my tutor as I can always clarify my doubts with him online and in class. I managed to improve from C5 to B3 in English and Mr Tan has helped me so much. I recommend others to join Good School as the tutors are very helpful and always encourage one to persevere and not give up. The methods taught here are very helpful and grades will improve without doubt.

Before joining Mr Tan's Secondary English lessons, my English grades were around the C5-C6 region. I did not now how to prepare for my English exams as well. However, after attending his class, I understand the fundamentals and started to know how to better prepare myself for English exams. The lessons were engaging as he uses different methods to teach us so that we are able to effectively understand the concept. Beyond lesson hours, he replies to my questions in whatsapp too. This ensures that I do not have any doubts left. As I usually spend my weekends at Good School Kovan, the study area is very conducive which allows me to study and revise my work. I would definitely recommend Good School to my juniors as the environment at Good School is great for learning and the teachers are very encouraging.

Before coming to Good School Kovan, I didn't have much understanding of the English language and would just write any answers that come to my mind. During my first lesson here, there were many grammar rules brought to my attention, rules that I have never heard of before. It was quite a struggle for the first few months, trying to make sense of and grasp the rules. Over time with the help of my tutor, I learnt how to apply this set of rules to my everyday English homework. My English language improved over time gradually. The learning environment was a place where it was fine to make mistakes as I knew no one would judge me no matter how small the mistake was. The content of each lesson was always delivered in a clear manner such that everyone would understand. Ample class work was given to help my understand the lesson more. Having improved from a C5 to a B3, I'm thankful. Thankful towards my tutor, for providing us with all the lesson materials and notes to help me improve.

English was a subject that I did not know how to study and I usually go by luck. The techniques my school teacher taught me were not reliable as whenever I apply them to my examinations, results did not show. The lessons at Good School Kovan conducted by my tutor Mr Tan was very helpful as he gave us a specific way/technique to study and improve my English. His methods were also very consistent unlike those taught by my school teachers as they would always change and varied. Before I joined Good School, my results were very inconsistent as they were able to jump from a B4 to a C6 in one term. However, with the help of Good School, my results managed to stay consistent where I scored a B3 for prelims and B4 for O levels. Mr Tan was very detailed and clear with his teaching and made sure that each of us was able to grasp the concept/idea at the topic we were dealing with that day. His methods were also very specific and easy to apply in all assignments . He would also come to us one by one to check our level of understanding. The center has a very conducive environment for students to study filled with motivational quotes that allows us to stay motivated and continue to grind.

Some challenges I faced in English in Upper Secondary was struggling to comprehend the narrative text. This resulted in me failing the narrative and occasionally even getting 5/20. Another challenge for me was my lack of vocabulary. As I was not an avid reader, it led me to have a more shallow vocab. For essays, I will be just passing for my language mark. During the class, Mr Tan taught us some "big words" that could be used in almost every essay. Words such as conundrum, abysmal and egregious were some of those words. This wasn't the case for most tuition centers which expect our vocab to improve by reading model essays. Mr Tan always tried to implement formulas for English.

As English was not my first language, it was hard for me to do the English papers as well as other subjects. I am able to complete and know how to do the English paper by attending lessons with my tutor. Lessons in Good School Kovan are quite different from school as school will just ask us to do practices and sometimes teachers assume that students know the key ideas of answering questions, but my tutor will guide students step by step in order to make students totally understand. The thing that I like about Mr Tan's lesson is that he is a funny and interesting tutor. And the environment of the centre is clean and tidy. He is able to answer students' questions at any time on Whatsapp and mark students' work. When I think back, 2018 was the year in which I started to learn English properly. I feel there is improvement within the 2 years. I've improved my Secondary English grade from F9 to B4 in N level. I believe that I would score better in this year's ' O ' level. Yet, this improvement is not enough and I should do better. I would recommend Good School because the tutor is a nice person.

Before I enrolled into Good School, I never knew that there was a way to prepare for English examinations. In Lower Secondary, I revised English through looking at practice papers that were previously done. However, after joining Good School Kovan, besides looking through practice papers, I also had notes from Good School to revise from. The notes provided useful information like formulas to use for different type of questions. The small class makes it easier to raise doubts to the tutor. I like the tutor's dedication in helping us prepare for examinations. Before the English O level oral examinations, Mr Tan took time and asked us to come down to the tuition centre to conduct a mock oral exam and gave us feedback to improve. I had a 5 grade improvement from F9 to B4 in 2 years for English. I would recommend Good School to my friends because the environment as a whole is conductive for learning!

During English lessons at Good School Kovan, there were techniques taught that I never knew existed, I doubt even my school teachers knew them. In class it is about learning, and at home it is about applying. This is an extremely smart way to learn the fastest. As the class size is small, teachers are able to focus more on students, maximising our learning experience. We were also able to clarify our doubts through WhatsApp, which is very convenientI have done well in English after joining the centre.

When I was learning English under my tutors. I felt that the class was fairly enjoyable as the lessons were very engaging. It allowed me to have fun and learn at the same time. My Secondary English grade before attending the tuition was not very desirable as it was fluctuating between C5 and C6 but after attending the classes I saw improvements being made which allowed me to attain A1. Some issues I faced were not knowing how to tackle certain comprehension questions, resulting in me answering the question wrongly. My grade before joining Good School was a C5. For English, I learnt certain answering techniques and skill sets which allowed me to tackle the comprehension questions I once had difficulty answering. It also allowed me to cut down the time taken to complete the paper as I knew how to break down the questions into the important points. I liked that Mr Tan's lessons are very fun and engaging as we would occasionally have some small activities to help us learn. I think that the centre’s learning environment is very conducive as there are not that many students in the class allowing me to ask more questions about the things I am unsure about. Mr Tan is always there to help us clarify our doubts and would always check whether we understand what he taught at the end of every lesson. I attained an A1 for English. I was in Good School Kovan for 6 months I would recommend Good School to others as I think it would benefit them as the tutors are very helpful and engaging. They would definitely help students who are struggling in school.

My tutor Mr Tan could clarify all my doubts during lessons as well as over text. Although my final grade did not have a huge jump, I struggled a lot less while studying as I was more clear in knowing the requirements and how to achieve it.
The small class size also allowed me to ask more questions as there was more time. Mr Tan's entertaining personality made the lessons more memorable.

Before joining Good School Kovan, I didn’t know how to prepare for English prior to the exam and thought that there was no specific method to approach the different components of English. My grade for Secondary English at that time was C5/C6.
When I was in Good School, I managed to learn the different techniques when approaching the different components in English. Since I joined the class halfway in the term, a basic grammar class was scheduled for me so that I could understand the terms that were used in class. Due to Covid-19, classes were moved to zoom. My tutor, Mr Tan Wei Jie, would introduce quizzes to class to ensure that everyone participates in class.
The centre also has a very conducive environment to allow students to do their assignments and work before and after class. If we had questions, we could whatsapp him to ask any questions and he would do his best to help us.
After Good School, I had a 3 grade improvement from C6 to B3. I would recommend Good School as it provided me with the knowledge that I would not have gotten from school.

Before joining Good School, my compo was super bad and I didn’t really care about English. I always got C5 or C6 for Secondary English.
After joining Good School Kovan, they taught all the basics and fundamentals so that I can have an edge in the exams. My tutor, Mr Tan, is entertaining. The lessons were taken from home but I am still able to clarify all my doubts during lessons and also after lessons on WhatsApp.
I consulted my tutor more often and my compo skills improved in less than 3 weeks and got B3 for Olevels English.
I would recommend Good School to my friends and juniors because they will improve in English.

My grade before joining Good School was always just a pass or sometimes even a fail. I struggled to understand how to do well in an English examination as it was not just about reading more or writing more, but actually understanding, memorising and practicing all the grammar rules and use certain skills or techniques to get the best answer for comprehension questions and write good essays with the correct structures and literary devices.
When I joined Good School Kovan, I really enjoyed how the teaching technique is so unique compared to the many other English tuition centres I've been through like using special formulas to help memorise the plethora of grammar rules and many other concepts instead of the typically wordy rules in textbooks. The lessons were always very engaging as Mr Tan would fill us in with some of the recent news for general knowledge and would always draw for us on his computer to explain really abstract ideas which makes everything much easier to understand. Sometimes, he would also spice it up a little with some of his life stories and jokes. Since the class size is relatively small, I can tell he could really put in the effort to check our work quite often and I could also voice out my doubts more easily to him in class. It is also cool how his teaching style is always using the computer and visualizer instead of the whiteboard so there would never be a moment of squinting at the whiteboard because of handwriting issues.
Despite Covid, everyone could still ask Mr Tan any queries on WhatsApp and since he is already accustomed to using the computer even during normal lessons, online classes during lockdown was actually not much of a difference and easily adaptable. The classroom is perfectly lit (as in not too bright and not too white that could make our eyes tired) and conducive.
Mr Tan has really helped me improve my English and I got a B3 in the end for my O Levels which I am satisfied with although maybe if I had worked a little more harder I would have gotten an A1 instead. It is no doubt I would definitely recommend Good School to my juniors and friends because I feel that it will benefit them as it did for me.

Before joining Good School, I always didn't know how to prepare for a Secondary English paper and was always stuck on the generally weaker side of English as i have a very small range of vocabulary. I could never score above B4 and most of the times, I would be on the borderline of passing English.
After joining Good School Kovan, I found the lessons very interesting and enriching at the same time. I was able to learn and improve my English after a while. Mr Tan was able to explain everything clearly and he was very patient with the students. He made sure we all understood what he was teaching and would never neglect anyone of us. It is a small class and that allowed me to have more time to ask the tutor questions. He was a very patient and caring teacher. I really liked him teaching me as it allowed me to learn the subject to the fullest as he would always take his time to explain to me certain topics I am unclear of. He tries his best to make the lessons interesting and fun and despite all our mischiefs, he has never once shouted at us. I really appreciate this tutor and I strongly recommend him to other students looking for one. Mr Tan tries his best to reply as quickly to me whenever I needed help and that was very helpful to my studies.
I studied the techniques he taught me and made a 2-3 grade improvement in English. I would definitely recommend Good School to my friends and juniors as I find it one of the best tuition centers to learn at as the tutors are friendly, nice and helpful. Most importantly, I understand their lessons.

Before joining Good School Kovan, I did not know how to study effectively for the subject even days before the upcoming test or examination apart from just flipping through old assignments and learning from my previous mistakes. I also didn’t manage to practice more for my essay writing even though it was one of my weaker components as the teachers in my school focused more on the other components. In a nutshell, English was a pretty ambiguous subject to me that i did not know how to study and improve in simply by just reading up more. I joined Good School in Sec 1, where my grades stayed stagnant at the B3 to B4 range.
For Secondary English, the tutors focus a lot on us having the fundamentals and learning all the formulas we will need in order to answer the questions directly and accurately. We also learnt all the various ways like FAT, level 1 to 3 descriptive writing and how to come up with our own similes and metaphors so that we are able to write much more interesting and persuading essays. They also zoom in on every tiny detail by breaking down the question so that we are able to produce essays that thoroughly answer the question while standing out from the rest as well. What sets Mr Tan's English lessons apart from the ordinary English teachers in school is that in his lessons, we do not just get extra practice for us to drill our answering and writing techniques, but we are also taught various methods to attempt each and every segment tested within the English syllabus. For example, in the lessons which are essay-focused, we aren’t only exposed to a wide range of vocabulary for us to use in our own writing, but we are also taught formulas to structure a good introduction, non-repetitive PEEL paragraphs, as well as convincing conclusions (for the expository essays).
Mr Tan provides us very specific advice regarding areas we are weaker at and what we can do to improve in it. There are also many more opportunities provided for us to practice our oracy, writing and answering skills beyond classes, which really helped me a lot especially when it was nearing the o level examinations and we could no longer submit any more assignments and essays to our school teachers to mark. This helped ensure that i was always putting my skills to a test and also greatly boosted my confidence for the subject after so much practice. Moreover, his lessons were never dry, and for some of us who don’t frequently catch up with current affairs or the news, he would always spare a portion of the session going through the latest news with us, and even creating opportunities for discussion where we would get to practice our oracy skills frequently as well, thus killing 2 birds with one stone.
The class size is kept small and comfortable and this ensures that we are able to get all the help that we need from the tutors as it is easier to approach them if we had any doubts. This also means that each of us gets a chance at being called to answer a question and also practice our oral skills every lesson as well. The tutors ensure that each of us is looked after and no one gets left behind as we were able to whatsapp them after class whenever we needed help, where we would then get a very detailed response as to how to solve our inquiries.
I had a 2-grade improvement (from B4 to A2 in secondary 1) and managed to maintain an A2 for my O level English. I would recommend because Good School English tutors are one of kind, and those that need help, especially extra attention, will definitely stand to gain since the tutors are extremely detailed in coaching us. Attending English lessons at the centre also allowed me to study more effectively and easily since there were formulas i could always turn to, which also allowed me to save time during the examinations thinking about how i should phrase an answer, or how i could start off my essay.

Before joining Good School Kovan, I didn't know how to improve my essays due to my lack of vocabulary and always had limited sentence structures. For paper 2 I was very poor in visual text and comprehension as I always cant find the relevant part of the passage. As for paper 4, I couldn't come up with examples for oral and my pronunciation for reading aloud wasn't good.
After joining Good School, I learnt to study using the logic modelling and formulas taught during the lesson. It was quite helpful as it was easier for me to structure my answers properly. During the lessons, Mr Tan and Ms Sarah would also remind us the various formulas so that we would remember it better. I liked how the lessons are logical and how my tutors would use Olevel papers as learning materials. It helped me to apply the skills learnt in school. The class was very small and conducive. The support given was sufficient as I could WhatsApp my tutors for help whenever i had problems with the work given in school or tuition. During lessons, they would also ask if we could understand the formulas and the task given. I think that its something other teachers might not do due to bigger classes.
I improved from B4 to B3 in Olevel within a year. I would recommend this to others as I found it helpful and the teaching technique used is very unique compared to other tuitions.

English E8 to B3

At the end of Sec 3, I was doing very badly in English. I was failing with an E8 and D7. I got to know Mr Tan as he was recommended by my math tuition teacher. He taught me many things about English that I was totally unaware of. I used to think that reading many books was the only way to score well in English. When O levels were coming closer, Mr Tan was kind enough to offer his tuition center as a conducive place for me to study. It really helped me. With my constant hard work and his guidance, I was able to improve from E8 to B3 for English O levels.

I almost gave up on English when I first came to Good School Kovan, as I always felt that English could not be taught. I have been scoring borderline passes and the worst was E8 during my mid-year in secondary 4.
After joining the classes, I realized that actually English could be learnt if taught in a proper way. In school, lessons were just going through test papers after test papers, but here there are proper techniques to answering certain questions and they helped me to understand what I was learning. Usually, English lessons are boring but Mr Tan was able to add some humour into boring topics and make it interesting. It is convenient for students who want to study and eat at the same time, as it is very flexible here.
I was able to apply the skills that I learnt into my exams. I could see the results of about 6 months' worth of hard work at the end when I got a 5-grade improvement. I would recommend others this place as the teachers here know the right techniques to teach and are always very approachable if we are in need of help.

Before I joined, I was never motivated to learn English. I scored B4 for CA2. Other English lessons were not engaging. Here at Good School Kovan, the tutor is very dedicated in teaching English and lessons are very interesting. He is very patient in answering all my questions online and I'm extremely grateful to have a tutor like Mr Tan. The study area is extremely conducive. I was able to clarify all doubts on WhatsApp.
Subsequently, I scored B3 in the O levels. I would definitely recommend Good School Learning Hub because the way Mr Tan conducted the lessons made me like English and want to strive to do well in it.

Before joining Good School Kovan, I didn't think that I would get any higher than a B3 for Secondary English. My tutor always put in his 100% effort in all of our English classes which really inspired me to strive for the best in my English exams. In other tuition centres, they never taught English as well as him. I think i only paid attention during class because Mr Tan was able to make English more interesting and he always clarified our doubts during class. It was probably because of that I wanted to write more essays for him and not just decide then and there that my results should stay stagnant.
I appreciated the fact that leading up to the O levels, we were able to switch classes to fit our schedules whilst also keeping the class relatively small and easy to attend to everyone.
In about 4 months, I managed to jump from a B4 to an A1 in English. I would definitely recommend Good School to my juniors because I feel that it has a good system in teaching English, because Mr Tan gave me some hope in a subject I thought had defeated me.

Before attending the Secondary English lessons at Good School Kovan, I was unsure of how I should prepare myself for English. It was always a gamble as I could score rather well sometimes, but I would do badly other times.WIth the aid of the structured lessons at Good School, as well as the patient and meitculous guidance of Mr Tan I was able to approach the subject with much more confidence. I was able to understand what I was doing at each section which then aided me in applying the skills and formulas learnt at Good School. Additionally, the lessons at Good School were very comprehensive and interesting. I also enjoyed the small class size as it allowed lessons to be more interactive! Mr Tan was also very helpful and willing to clear our doubts whenever i was confused. This helped me to keep up with all knowledge taught in class.Eventually, this led to me having a 2 grade improvement for English and I scored A1 for my O level English examination. I would definitely recommend the class for anyone who is unclear about how to approach English.

English C6 to B3

Before I embarked on my journey with Good School Kovan, I've always felt that English was a language that cannot be improved on. To me, it was just about how you convey the message across, never about vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure… I scored a C6 for my recent SA1. In school, the lessons were just about practice papers. Even if there were consultations, it's in big groups and often rushed.
However, in Good School, things are different. the lessons are often conducted in a fun way. In other tuition centres, I often feel tensed and nervous as to how the teachers would fight their way through and force the correct answers down out throat, but here, it was mainly about understanding how our answers come about and how we should tackle the questions the right way. Mr Tan teaches with various techniques. For example, to make sure the PEEL is well-written, he comes up with methods that can guarantee you good grades but only if you FOLLOW EVERYTHING HE SAYS! I had a 3 grade jump from C6 to B3. I would definitely recommend everyone to join Good School!

I always had this misconception that English was a subject that could not be studied for and I always hated English. My Secondary English grade was a C6 before joining.
My school teachers always just gave us answers without explanations. My mentor, Mr Tan, is very funny and he makes me interested in the lesson. The Centre is very conducive. I'm able to clarify all my doubts and my mentor goes the extra mile to offer assistance (giving feedback for all oral mock tests).
I scored A1 for O levels, improving from a C6. I would definitely recommend Good School Kovan to my friends and juniors because the teachers here truly care and want me to do well.

I had started Secondary English tuition at Good School Kovan 2 months before the actual O levels. The lessons that I took at Good School were really precise and informative. My mentor Mr Tan has developed certain methods and techniques to assist me in the learning of English which was very beneficial in helping me improve in English as I has never known that there has a way that I could study for English as I thought that the only way to improve was through practice. The lessons with him were never dull and was interesting. In addition, he always ensured that we understood the lesson well so that we could apply the techniques learnt to the subject. The methods were easy to understand and explained very accurately and clear cut. Additionally, I was always given a chance to clarify my doubts both in class and after class, as I was able to clarify my doubts through Whatsapp.
Due to the dedication and informative lessons and suggestions on how to help me improve in the English language, I managed to get a two grade improvement in 2 months and scored an A1 in my o level English. I would definitely recommend Good School to others as the lessons are very beneficial and really enabled me to improve my capabilities in the English language.

Mr Tan is a caring and understanding tutor who teachers differently than other teachers. He has helped me in my essay writings and is very patient. He would always explain the questions repeatedly until we understood. Action speaks louder than words and I can see the difference in my results and my work. I never knew that I had to prepare for English till I started lessons at Good School Kovan.
I scored D7 for prelim 1, C5 for prelim 2 and A2 for O levels.

My English is really weak and i thought there is not much i can improve on as i have went to many different tuitions but i see no improvement for my English result. My grade for the subject before I joined Good School Kovan was a D7 for my O levels in 2016, other lessons in school or other centres were just giving me a lot of practice worksheet to do and only go through the answer for my mistakes.
But in Good School, Mr Tan realised that my basics were really weak and without doubt he started to strengthen my basics before going on to the worksheets. His teaching is clear and his methods are easy to understand. He always puts in 100% effort to teach me and make sure that i am able to absorb all the points. The class size is conducive for optimal learning to take place. I am able to clarify all my doubts during and after lesson through Whatsapp. Mr Tan really motivates me and inspires me to on my best, at some point in time, I was about to give up as i couldn't see any improvements in my English.
I had a 4 grade improvement and scored a B3 for my O level English in 8 months! I would definitely recommend Good School to my juniors!

Before joining Good School Kovan in 2018, I have always thought that there was no way for us to prepare for our English exam as it was a language based examination and there is no specific technique for us to follow in order to score well for the exam, unlike for math or science where the steps are similar and repetitive. English was always a “you know, you’ll know, you don’t know, you don’t know” subject. Peers in school would usually not be studying for their English exams and if you ask if they are prepared, they would often say there is nothing to study and to prepare for.
Let us take essay writing as an example. The intro to an essay is often told to us by our school's teacher that we need to include a thesis statement. What is a thesis statement? That was a question that was constantly repeated in my mind. Despite multiple consultations with my school teacher and searching it up on the internet, I still do not understand what a thesis statement is and how it is that we should write. I believe there were a handful of classmates who are as clueless as I was.
After I joined Good School, my tutor was there to teach me the skills that I would need to acquire with step by step assistance. Knowing what we are doing and is clear of our end goal that we are achieving and ensuring that we know how to write an intro of an essay on our own and have different variations with different approaches for different types of essays. Conducting a number of lessons to finetune our skills and to pinpoint the ways and methods we could use for essay writing and often giving us advice to look out for some issues that we would face. We were also taught on how to come up with a solution effectively and quickly if we were to face an issue while planning an essay introduction. This is something school teachers neglect and do not teach their students. They would often go through the brief understanding of the method and let us crash and burn by ourselves. Being in Good School learning hub makes me feel blessed and relieved that I am learning these methods to do well in the examination.
Using easy to understand words and simple drawings to bring out the key idea to us. Mr Tan conducts lively and entertaining lessons for his students with various interactive ways to have us engaged unlike traditional classes where the teacher would be talking for the whole time. The class size is small, usually quiet and is a conducive learning space for a lesson to be held. We are able to learn and to exchange knowledge with students from other schools who might be using the same or similar technique that is taught in school.
Mr Tan allows me to text him via WhatsApp and clarify my doubts although I understand that sometimes his reply may be slow as he has other students to tend to but I personally feel that it is very convenient for me to be able to clear my doubts easily and without having to worry that I would have to wait for the next lesson in-order for my questions to be clarified and answered.
I had a 5-grade improvement and scored a B4 for my O level English subject. I would strongly recommend it to my juniors as it is very effective and it ensures that they are at great advantage as compared to their peers in school.

After going to Good school Kovan for 4 years I'm here to talk about my experience. My teachers in school would go through topics quickly which did not allow me to grasp all the information I needed to understand the topic so I would constantly be lacking behind the rest.
Before I followed my tutor Mr Zhang, I did not pass math at all getting F9 for my Sec 1 EOY exams until the sec 2 EOY exam where I passed after listening to my tutor and doing all his homework. Mr Zhang's pacing of lessons was good always quizzing us to make sure we understand how to do the questions instead of just blindly remembering them. His lessons are interesting as he likes to take a break from lessons halfway to ask about our personal life's and while we do our work talks to all of us about events currently going on at the time.
I like the learning environment in Good School as the size of the class is small yet comfortable to be in. The seats are pretty comfortable to sit in for 2hours of lessons. When I do not understand a part of a question or have any doubts, I just need to text my tutor and he will send a voice recording or text to help me understand the question.
I have gotten a 6 to 7-grade improvement when I received B3 for my O Levels I would recommend anyone to come to Good school as the tutors here are supportive and will help you no matter what.

My tutor, Mr Tan Wei Jie, taught me ways to remember simple ways to better improve my English for my compo and email. He also said that there must be a balance and that the sentences should have a connection to one another, that my school don't teach. He makes use of jokes and examples to make the lesson less boring to listen to, using the ways he helped me remember tips for English it helped me pass my subject during N level and helped me get into a course that I wanted to get into.

Before I entered Good School Kovan, I was reluctant to have any tuition despite struggling in English. I wanted to be independent in my own learning and take charge of my studies. I thought I knew what to improve on, but after joining Good School, I found out there were more things I did not know that have caused me to do below the school standard (eg. vocab, did not know how to study for Eng).
In Good School, lessons are more interactive because the strength of the class is small, encouraging me to declare my doubts and not being afraid of being laughed at by others for my problems. My tutor, Mr Tan, doesn't scold us, but pushes me to go for the A1. He also listens to my queries after lessons which helps me consolidate my learning at the end of the lesson. He also pays to small details like my handwriting and advised me to try improve it. This was unlike my school which the teacher kept consultations short due to many students making appointments with them. My tutor's lessons are clear and he uses intriguingly strange but effective methods to help us understand lessons. (eg. Proposal Report with UN conference. With that, I can finally grasp the technique for Sit. Writing).
I like that there is a study corner where I can come whenever I want to consult him and do work for him to validate. (also the idea of selling snacks and drinks for students). I find the student support here great as Mr Tan is free to approach anytime for help, whether on WhatsApp or after lessons. Thanks to him and Good School, I improved my English grade from a borderline C6 to a B3 in O Level.
Even though i got a B3, Mr Tan always believed that I can get A1 for O level, which boosted my morale till JC. I would definitely recommend Good School to my friends because I am confident that one can improve tremendously in their grades if they put in hard work like my example.

I didn't know how to make preparations for my upcoming English exams. For English, I scored a C6 for the recent preliminary exams. My tutor, Mr Tan Wei Jie, uses interactive methods such as testing us after teaching us new skills that are more beneficial than just doing past-year papers and going through the papers. The class size is small compared to the classes in school which allows me to have more time to ask Mr Tan questions. I am able to ask him by using Whatsapp. After 12 months of tuition at Good School Kovan, I improved by 2 grades and scored a B4 for my O level English. I would strongly recommend Good School as the class size is small and there is a study area for students to study in silence or ask questions which makes it a conducive learning environment.

I feel that English is a subject that I can do well just that I needed to read more, practise more and have someone to guide me. The Secondary English lessons here were different in terms of the structured methods that are taught in tuition centre as compared to those in school. Mr Tan was clear in his explanation and was very patient when conducting his lessons. If we were unsure, he would try to explain until we understood. I feel that the study area here is conducive for me to do my TYS and timed practices. It's great that i can still get to ask questions via WhatsApp out of lesson time. I had a 2 grade improvement and scored B4 for O level English in 8 months! Yes, i would definitely recommend because the methods used were not taught in school and it's useful and the tutor was very patient with us.
