Chemistry C6 to A2 in 6 months

UST65_Raphael Phay Jun Ming_Good School Mentee_edited.jpg

Before joining Good School's Chemistry tuition, the subject Chemistry was just a subject I was preparing to drop for my O Levels since it was too hard to understand. My teachers in school were not clear and it did not help that there was 40 to 1 students in a class. I barely passed Chemistry in school by blatantly memorising answers. My grade was a C6 before I joined Good School in my WA2.

The lessons in Good School for Chemistry were effective in my learning as I received concise notes and had more teacher to student attention meaning I can ask my tutor more questions than I would be able to ask in class which greatly benefitted my learning and understanding of the subject. Mr Lee was very encouraging and enthusiastic in his teaching which i attribute to my improved results as it motivated me to score better. The tuition has also helped me to realise once I thoroughly understand the concepts in Chemistry it's easy to score well hence from a subject I planned to drop for my O Levels, it became a subject I am using for my L1R5.

I had a 4 grade improvement in 3 months from my WA2 and scored an A2 for my prelims. Very thankful to Mr Lee for helping me achieve what I thought was impossible.

Chemistry B4 to A2 in 3 months

I found it a bit challenging to grasp the Sec 4 concepts especially since it was taught at a very fast pace and I was one of the few in class who couldn’t keep up with the teaching pace causing my understanding of the subject to be very poor so i scored B4 for prelim.

Good school teaches at a reasonable pace and gives adequate time during classes for questions to ensure our doubts are clarified. Moreover, they provide easy to understand notes with diagram for illustrations making my revision during my free time more effective. Mr Lee in particular makes his lessons easy to understand as he simplifies concepts and gives us useful memorisation and exam tips to ace our test. I also find it very beneficial that he always promptly gives me feedback and answers to my work and questions, strengthening my understanding of Chemistry. Even though I joined Good School towards the end of the year, I was still able to reap the benefits of the teaching style and managed to attain an A2 for O levels.

I had a 2 grade improvement in about than 3 months from B4 in prelim to A2 in o levels. I would recommend Good School due to their teaching pace and the amount of help the tutors here give to ensure we have a better understanding of the subject which is crucial to revise more efficiently leading to an improvement of grades.

I think Good School is also has quite a laid back yet motivating environment. I don’t find it pressurizing yet feel encouraged to improve and do better.

Chemistry B3 to A1

For Chemistry, I had many issues with mole concept and writing ionic equation as I did not fully understand the ratios and what products were supposed to be written. This resulted in me only getting a B3 but I was hoping for an A1 for Sciences.

In Good School I was able to properly learn and understand how to always create he mole ratios to understand how to do mole questions. I like that Mr Lee always makes the class fun and enjoyable but also is able to explain and further my understanding of chemistry through real world context. It is fun and enjoyable making learning not as mundane but also allowing me to be more motivated!

In the end I did get an A1 for my Sciences which I'm very happy but this would have not been possible if I did not receive all the help I could get with extra practices provided by the teachers. I highly recommend this place because I feel that this tuition is very affordable but also very good for all to study and learn better.

For Science, I always had issues on how to properly answer the Science questions. I tend to either write too much which wastes time or too little and missing out on the keywords to get the marks.

I scored a AL2 overall for my P5.

Mr Just Tin taught us the different setups of the different question types and how to properly tackle each question. He also went through each topic carefully and guided us on the keywords which should be used to get marks. He also provided us with useful notes that cut down our preparation time for the exams. Mr Just Tin ensured that the students in class were clear with the information he had given during the lesson and clarified any doubts they have about the topic he taught that lesson. He also cracked the students up with a joke when the room got too intense and that makes his lessons enjoyable, fun and interesting. The class size is smaller compared to in school, which makes it easier to make queries in. Mr Just Tin's class and makes the class conducive.

Mr Just Tin is ready to answer any questions the students have, whether in class, after class or via WhatsApp at home, which makes clarifying any doubts easier.

My score improved from AL2 to AL1 for my PSLE. I would recommend Good School as they helped me to close the gap in my marks to achieve the score I wanted.

Science AL3 to AL2

PT9_Cha Lee Hong_Good School Mentee.jpeg

Before joining Good School, my Science was already pretty good, but there was a lot of careless mistakes that I made that stopped me from being at my full potential for science. I kept making the same mistakes in exams, though I studied hard before those exams. Hence, I have been consistently getting AL3 for my exams.

Good School gives a very unique experience when teaching science. My teacher will occasionally let us do hands-on experiments to allow us to fully understand the concept of a science topic. For example, we once did an experiment to find out if the number of batteries used in an electrical circuit would affect the light intensity of the light bulb in the same electrical circuit. We also did another experiment to find out the difference in light intensities in light bulbs when the bulbs in a circuit were arranged in parallel arrangement and when the bulbs in a circuit were arranged in series arrangement. These experiments were very interesting and improved my understanding on the topic of electricity. I loved the drawings that my teacher gave on the screen to let us better understand what he was talking about. There was a small class size, so my teacher could better focus on me. I could clarify any doubts I have on homework for science on whatsapp with my teacher too.

I had a 1-grade improvement in a year and scored AL2 For PSLE science. Though it seems like a small improvement, my usual score actually improved from 80 to 88. The careless mistakes took a lot of time to fix, but gradually, I managed to fix most of those mistakes. I would recommend this to anybody that wants to acquire more ideal results in exams, as this class is fun while being helpful in my science.

I scored AL4 before I joined Good School, I can understand Science concepts but always get 0 or very low marks for my open ended questions.

Miss Grace, who is my tuition teacher, focused on improving my open-ended question techniques, which were my biggest challenge, and taught me how to structure my answers using the COOK method and reminded me to revise the notes given. Her lessons were always engaging and fun. Miss Grace believed in me and encouraged me to do my best!

I have improved from AL4 to AL2! Thanks to Ms Grace’s guidance and encouragement! Yes I will recommend the centre to my friends as there are nice teachers here. The class size is good too for learning and teacher will care and feedback to my parents on what we had worked on and areas that need to improve.

Physics B4 to A2

UST16_Aloysius Yeow Yee Jian_Good School Mentee.jpeg

Some of the issues that I faced for my Combined Physics before joining Good School was that I could not always remember the various formulas and theories used to apply to the different questions that cover a wide range of topics such as heat, energy and moments. And even when I do remember them, I did not know which formulas or theory i should apply to that specific question, nor know how should I apply the theory to the question correctly.

I scored a B4 for my Combined Science.

The lessons in Good school are different as the teacher, Mr Daniel Tong, was always drilling us on the various formulas before class. Although at first I kept failing, however, after repeated tests and his patience guidance, I managed to memorize all the formulas and theories correctly. I like how my teacher is able to apply real life examples, to concepts and topics such as Radiation. He always managed to break down seemingly tough questions by drawing out various models and diagrams for us to understand and tackle the question.

The centre's learning environment is quite nice. Its pretty conducive for students to learn, with its bright colours and interior design.

I was able to clarify all my doubts during lessons and after lessons on Whatsapp. Although my prelim was B4 originally, but after countless help given by Mr Daniel Tong, I got an A2 for my O Level. It was such amazing to have him support me throughout this whole journey!

Science AL2

Sharlene Tan_Good School Mentee 2023.jpg

Science was new to me in Primary 3. Most of the time, I hardly understood what the teacher said in class and often relied on the textbook, so my science grades were so-so. I joined Good School Kovan in Primary 4 under Mr Justtin Tan. The Primary Science lessons were very different from what I was used to in school, where everything was by the books. At Good School, there was a lot of fun ways to memorize the concepts, which made learning science easier for me. Mr Tan’s lessons were something I looked forward to every week, as his lessons were thoroughly enjoyable. He liked to make us laugh during his lessons, making jokes to help us memorize science concepts.

The school has a very conducive learning environment, as it is very quiet during lessons. The class size is of around 10 students, meaning that the classroom would not have to be very big. It was a place where I could clarify my doubts about what my science teacher taught at school. Mr Tan’s answers were also easy to understand, thus allowing me to further expand my knowledge in science. During prelims, I was not satisfied with my score of AL3 for Science as I knew that I could’ve done better. With Mr Tan’s help, I managed to achieve an AL2 for PSLE.

I would recommend Good School to my juniors as the lessons are easy to understand, and it is a place to clarify your doubts and test your understanding of the chapters. You also learn things outside of the syllabus and sometimes get to play games to further understand the concepts.

I understood the concepts for science but I didn’t know how to answer open-ended questions effectively.

Teacher Justtin was very patient and effective in teaching. In the short 5 months after joining his Primary Science classes at Good School Kovan, he imparted many techniques on how to effectively answer open-ended questions and reignited my interest in science.

I went from an AL6 during my WA in May 2023 to scoring an AL3 for PSLE, thanks to Teacher Justtin from Good School. Therefore, I would strongly recommend Good School.

Before joining Good School Tampines, I was not good at understanding the basics of the topic and I was weak in answering multiple-choice questions. My score for Primary 5 WA was an AL5.

The Primary Science lessons at Good School were focused on the topics I was weak at. The tutor, Mr Justtin Tan, asked me to jot down notes constantly so I could refer to them when unsure of how to answer a question. I found the classroom was also conducive and a good environment to learn in. Mr Tan was very supportive and answered all my questions.

After joining Good School, I had a 4-grade improvement and scored an AL1 for my PSLE Science. I would therefore recommend Good School to my friends.

I scored an AL6 for Primary Science before joining Good School and never passed Science.

After joining Good School Tampines, I gained more confidence in the subject and obtained an AL4 for PSLE. School lessons were great but the worksheets and the methods the school uses were different from the methods being taught in Good School. My tutor, Mr Justtin Tan, taught me the proper answering structure and highlighted key information that was not taught in school.

The centre’s learning environment is very comfortable and so are the seats. The support provided is great as well!

After joining Good School and doing well in WA, I felt more confident to strive towards my goals in my subjects. I had a 2-grade improvement and scored AL4 for PSLE Science. I would recommend Good School to my juniors as the learning environment and methods taught are great, and class time is also manageable.

Before joining Good School Kovan for Primary Science tuition, I was scoring lower than expected on my tests. After joining Good School, I learnt the technique to answer open-ended questions. My tutor, Mr Justtin Tan, emphasised including the correct keywords in the answer. I could also ask questions freely in class. Mr Tan would answer all of them and make sure I understood entirely before continuing with the lesson.

Thanks to Good School and Mr Tan, my science improved a lot and I scored an AL1 for PSLE.

For English, I didn't understand the proper answering techniques to answer certain sections of a paper and relied on guessing When I joined Good School, I realised there were a lot of simple techniques to us. The teacher Mr tan was very supportive and gave me advice to learn. Even though I wasn't very cooperative, I learnt a lot from him.

Thanks to Good School, I kept my grades up and got an AL2 for PSLE English.

English was not my strongest subject and I did not know what was the best way to study for English.

After joining Good School Kovan, Mr Justtin Tan helped me understand how to do well in English in a much clearer and concise way which made me realize that I could have studied Science more productively as well.

Good School has helped me to understand the different methods to get better grades in Primary English and Science.

Before joining Good School, I didn't really know the grammar rules for English. I also didn't know good vocabulary and good phrases for composition writing and therefore my Primary English and Science grades weren't that good. My English was an AL4 and Science was an AL4 too. I found Good School's lessons to be very engaging and they kept me at full attention. The explanations of topics were very clear and easy to understand. During lessons, the surroundings was also very quiet which created a conducive learning environment for us to study and learn in. After joining Good School Kovan, I scored AL2s for both English and Science during PSLE. I would recommend Good School to my friends as I feel that they would also make an improvement in their studies as well. They would also be more interested in the subjects as the lessons were very engaging which would help them to spark interest in a certain subject.

Before joining Good School, I didn't understand the topics and ways to answer the different questions. Hence, I scored an AL4 for Science. The lessons at Good School were very engaging and gave us a better understanding for the subject of Science. They also increased our interest in science and made us want to learn more on our own. After joining Good School Kovan, I scored an AL2 for Science during PSLE. I would recommend Good School to my friends as I think that they will share the same sentiments as me.

I didn't understand many Primary English concepts and I was very confused in English, not knowing any rules at all. I always scored a 50-60+ or an AL6. For English, I was able to understand the rules and be able to memorise them because my tutor, Mr Justtin Tan, made it easier and thought of a fun way to phrase his teaching. He makes the lessons fun instead of boring old-school teaching. The small number of students in one class allowed the tutor to focus more on each student which was a good thing. I was able to clear my confusion about English concepts like tenses, verbs, and adverbs because I didn't know any of them and it was a big issue hindering my progress. Mr Tan taught me all those rules and concepts in a fun way. I had a 2-grade improvement and scored an AL4 for my PSLE English. I would recommend Good School to my friends as it helped me in my studies and lessons are never boring.

Before joining Good School Tampines, I had trouble phrasing my answers, and my concepts of Primary Science were bad. I didn't understand what my school teacher was saying and hence I scored an AL6. Mr Tan helped me to know what and how to memorise which helped me a lot. He also teaches in a way that although it's boring, I'll still benefit from it. I was able to understand why my answers needed to be phrased like that and how I should face each question, which was very useful. I had a 2-grade improvement and scored an AL4 for my PSLE Science. I would recommend Good School because of its good environment and because it actually helped. I never thought I could get 70 and above for the subject of science.
