I didn’t know that there were methods for answering comprehension questions and was always unable to get the complete answers to the questions. I was always missing that one part of the answer that would allow me to get the full marks for that question. I also didn’t know that there were techniques that could be used during summary that could help me paraphrase my words and make my sentence structure much more fluent. I scored a B3 for my end of year examinations in Secondary 3.

When taking lessons in Good School Kovan, I was able to study English predictably using the logic modelling and formulas taught. Even though I joined later in the year, I was still able to catch up with the rest of my classmates with the extra lessons that were conducted during the school holidays. The tutor is able to teach in a way that makes it easy to understand and digest the techniques that are taught to us. The lessons are also fun and engaging as Mr Tan would link the techniques to the scripts of some movies. One such example is using a clip from the movie “Sherlock Holmes” to teach us how to be more descriptive when writing our essays.

The class size is small and all the students are able to receive adequate attention from the tutor and the whole class is able to move ahead in the lessons together. I was able to get help from Mr Tan even outside lesson timings as I could contact him via Whatsapp if I still had any doubts on what was taught during the lessons or when I needed assistance with my school work.
I had a 2-grade improvement and scored an A1 for my O level English. I would recommend Good School to the people around me because the techniques that were taught are effective and helped me to better answer the questions in Paper 2 which was the component that I was the weakest at. There were also lessons for essay writing and oral which helped me to better express myself in both writing and words.

Before, I never knew how to prepare for English exams and I always go by feeling to get the answers. At Good School Kovan, the teaching is clear and ideas are broken down effectively to make learning easier. The logic modelling and formulas taught are simple to apply and removes ay guesswork. I do not need to go by feeling and can now accurately answer questions with certainty.

My tutor, Mr Tan, is very helpful and always address my concerns promptly and effectively. He goes beyond just teaching the content but also shares with the class on steps on how to be a better learner. During exam period, he takes time to give us oral practice sessions to improve on our oral. He also helps to mark and edit our essay when we send it to him on Whatsapp. Furthermore, the centre provides a conducive study environment by having a study area. These efforts by him helped me improve my Secondary English grade from a C6 to B3 for my O level.

I would definitely recommend Good School to my juniors as the tutors are definitely going to be the one that can give you the results that you are looking for as long as you follow the methods taught and diligently put in the effort to practice and learn.

I was worried about my English because I didn't know if I was studying for it in the right way and I had terrible teachers in school. My tutor really analyzed the language very thoroughly and taught it in a very clear and concise manner such that I no longer felt like I was fumbling around in the dark anymore. I felt sure of myself and grew to love the English language more as a result. I improved from C5 to A1. I would recommend Mr Tan's tuition class to my friends and juniors because his methods are effective.

Was unsure about formats and had limited vocabulary. Did not know if I was on the right track at all. The tutor is able to provide more attention for people who are weaker and give reliable " tips " and shortcuts to memorising formats better. At first, it may be confusing but later, it is much easier.

Mr Tan is very entertaining, keeps lesson interesting so students will not be bored. Very willing to stay back and advise more for the weaker students.  Love the aircon and study corners. Improved from being stagnant at C5 to B3

I never knew that English could be taught and I thought you had to be born with the skill to do well in English. My tutor is a very attentive teacher and he makes sure everyone understands and knows how to apply what he is teaching. School usually isn't very thorough and they just brush through everything. Mr Tan is very interactive and lively which always brings up the mood in class and he knows when to get serious so that everyone isn't too relaxed which helps us absorb our knowledge. In lessons, there is always work to do to make sure we know what he's teaching and he will always make sure we understand this structure. GSLH Kovan is a very conducive environment to study in and also not too serious. Mr Tan is always very quick to respond to any queries no matter during lesson or through Whatsapp. I went from a C6 to B3 in 1 year and my results had never dropped. I would definitely recommed GSLH to others.

Before Secondary English tuition at Good School Learning Hub Kovan, I used to do my English work without thinking much, never knowing that there was a formula to solve questions and always going by my gut. Lessons here are much more engaging and interactive than in school, and there are a lot more skills that are being taught here. Mr Tan explains the concepts of the skills in detail, and it is always very fun to attend his classes. I am able to apply the knowledge I have learnt from him. This cente has created a very conducive environment to study at, and it is very lively and clean. I am also able to gain support from my tutor as I can always clarify my doubts with him online and in class. I managed to improve from C5 to B3 in English and Mr Tan has helped me so much. I recommend others to join Good School as the tutors are very helpful and always encourage one to persevere and not give up. The methods taught here are very helpful and grades will improve without doubt.

English was a subject that I did not know how to study and I usually go by luck. The techniques my school teacher taught me were not reliable as whenever I apply them to my examinations, results did not show. The lessons at Good School Kovan conducted by my tutor Mr Tan was very helpful as he gave us a specific way/technique to study and improve my English. His methods were also very consistent unlike those taught by my school teachers as they would always change and varied. Before I joined Good School, my results were very inconsistent as they were able to jump from a B4 to a C6 in one term. However, with the help of Good School, my results managed to stay consistent where I scored a B3 for prelims and B4 for O levels. Mr Tan was very detailed and clear with his teaching and made sure that each of us was able to grasp the concept/idea at the topic we were dealing with that day. His methods were also very specific and easy to apply in all assignments . He would also come to us one by one to check our level of understanding. The center has a very conducive environment for students to study filled with motivational quotes that allows us to stay motivated and continue to grind.

Before I enrolled into Good School, I never knew that there was a way to prepare for English examinations. In Lower Secondary, I revised English through looking at practice papers that were previously done. However, after joining Good School Kovan, besides looking through practice papers, I also had notes from Good School to revise from. The notes provided useful information like formulas to use for different type of questions. The small class makes it easier to raise doubts to the tutor. I like the tutor's dedication in helping us prepare for examinations. Before the English O level oral examinations, Mr Tan took time and asked us to come down to the tuition centre to conduct a mock oral exam and gave us feedback to improve. I had a 5 grade improvement from F9 to B4 in 2 years for English. I would recommend Good School to my friends because the environment as a whole is conductive for learning!

When I was learning English under my tutors. I felt that the class was fairly enjoyable as the lessons were very engaging. It allowed me to have fun and learn at the same time. My Secondary English grade before attending the tuition was not very desirable as it was fluctuating between C5 and C6 but after attending the classes I saw improvements being made which allowed me to attain A1. Some issues I faced were not knowing how to tackle certain comprehension questions, resulting in me answering the question wrongly. My grade before joining Good School was a C5. For English, I learnt certain answering techniques and skill sets which allowed me to tackle the comprehension questions I once had difficulty answering. It also allowed me to cut down the time taken to complete the paper as I knew how to break down the questions into the important points. I liked that Mr Tan's lessons are very fun and engaging as we would occasionally have some small activities to help us learn. I think that the centre’s learning environment is very conducive as there are not that many students in the class allowing me to ask more questions about the things I am unsure about. Mr Tan is always there to help us clarify our doubts and would always check whether we understand what he taught at the end of every lesson. I attained an A1 for English. I was in Good School Kovan for 6 months I would recommend Good School to others as I think it would benefit them as the tutors are very helpful and engaging. They would definitely help students who are struggling in school.

Before joining Good School, my compo was super bad and I didn’t really care about English. I always got C5 or C6 for Secondary English.

After joining Good School Kovan, they taught all the basics and fundamentals so that I can have an edge in the exams. My tutor, Mr Tan, is entertaining. The lessons were taken from home but I am still able to clarify all my doubts during lessons and also after lessons on WhatsApp.

I consulted my tutor more often and my compo skills improved in less than 3 weeks and got B3 for Olevels English.

I would recommend Good School to my friends and juniors because they will improve in English.

Before joining Good School Kovan, I did not know how to study effectively for the subject even days before the upcoming test or examination apart from just flipping through old assignments and learning from my previous mistakes. I also didn’t manage to practice more for my essay writing even though it was one of my weaker components as the teachers in my school focused more on the other components. In a nutshell, English was a pretty ambiguous subject to me that i did not know how to study and improve in simply by just reading up more. I joined Good School in Sec 1, where my grades stayed stagnant at the B3 to B4 range.

For Secondary English, the tutors focus a lot on us having the fundamentals and learning all the formulas we will need in order to answer the questions directly and accurately. We also learnt all the various ways like FAT, level 1 to 3 descriptive writing and how to come up with our own similes and metaphors so that we are able to write much more interesting and persuading essays. They also zoom in on every tiny detail by breaking down the question so that we are able to produce essays that thoroughly answer the question while standing out from the rest as well. What sets Mr Tan's English lessons apart from the ordinary English teachers in school is that in his lessons, we do not just get extra practice for us to drill our answering and writing techniques, but we are also taught various methods to attempt each and every segment tested within the English syllabus. For example, in the lessons which are essay-focused, we aren’t only exposed to a wide range of vocabulary for us to use in our own writing, but we are also taught formulas to structure a good introduction, non-repetitive PEEL paragraphs, as well as convincing conclusions (for the expository essays).

Mr Tan provides us very specific advice regarding areas we are weaker at and what we can do to improve in it. There are also many more opportunities provided for us to practice our oracy, writing and answering skills beyond classes, which really helped me a lot especially when it was nearing the o level examinations and we could no longer submit any more assignments and essays to our school teachers to mark. This helped ensure that i was always putting my skills to a test and also greatly boosted my confidence for the subject after so much practice. Moreover, his lessons were never dry, and for some of us who don’t frequently catch up with current affairs or the news, he would always spare a portion of the session going through the latest news with us, and even creating opportunities for discussion where we would get to practice our oracy skills frequently as well, thus killing 2 birds with one stone.

The class size is kept small and comfortable and this ensures that we are able to get all the help that we need from the tutors as it is easier to approach them if we had any doubts. This also means that each of us gets a chance at being called to answer a question and also practice our oral skills every lesson as well. The tutors ensure that each of us is looked after and no one gets left behind as we were able to whatsapp them after class whenever we needed help, where we would then get a very detailed response as to how to solve our inquiries.

I had a 2-grade improvement (from B4 to A2 in secondary 1) and managed to maintain an A2 for my O level English. I would recommend because Good School English tutors are one of kind, and those that need help, especially extra attention, will definitely stand to gain since the tutors are extremely detailed in coaching us. Attending English lessons at the centre also allowed me to study more effectively and easily since there were formulas i could always turn to, which also allowed me to save time during the examinations thinking about how i should phrase an answer, or how i could start off my essay.

I almost gave up on English when I first came to Good School Kovan, as I always felt that English could not be taught. I have been scoring borderline passes and the worst was E8 during my mid-year in secondary 4.

After joining the classes, I realized that actually English could be learnt if taught in a proper way. In school, lessons were just going through test papers after test papers, but here there are proper techniques to answering certain questions and they helped me to understand what I was learning. Usually, English lessons are boring but Mr Tan was able to add some humour into boring topics and make it interesting. It is convenient for students who want to study and eat at the same time, as it is very flexible here.

I was able to apply the skills that I learnt into my exams. I could see the results of about 6 months' worth of hard work at the end when I got a 5-grade improvement. I would recommend others this place as the teachers here know the right techniques to teach and are always very approachable if we are in need of help.

Before attending the Secondary English lessons at Good School Kovan, I was unsure of how I should prepare myself for English. It was always a gamble as I could score rather well sometimes, but I would do badly other times.

WIth the aid of the structured lessons at Good School, as well as the patient and meitculous guidance of Mr Tan I was able to approach the subject with much more confidence. I was able to understand what I was doing at each section which then aided me in applying the skills and formulas learnt at Good School. Additionally, the lessons at Good School were very comprehensive and interesting. I also enjoyed the small class size as it allowed lessons to be more interactive! Mr Tan was also very helpful and willing to clear our doubts whenever i was confused. This helped me to keep up with all knowledge taught in class.

Eventually, this led to me having a 2 grade improvement for English and I scored A1 for my O level English examination. I would definitely recommend the class for anyone who is unclear about how to approach English.

I had started Secondary English tuition at Good School Kovan 2 months before the actual O levels. The lessons that I took at Good School were really precise and informative. My mentor Mr Tan has developed certain methods and techniques to assist me in the learning of English which was very beneficial in helping me improve in English as I has never known that there has a way that I could study for English as I thought that the only way to improve was through practice. The lessons with him were never dull and was interesting. In addition, he always ensured that we understood the lesson well so that we could apply the techniques learnt to the subject. The methods were easy to understand and explained very accurately and clear cut. Additionally, I was always given a chance to clarify my doubts both in class and after class, as I was able to clarify my doubts through Whatsapp.

Due to the dedication and informative lessons and suggestions on how to help me improve in the English language, I managed to get a two grade improvement in 2 months and scored an A1 in my o level English. I would definitely recommend Good School to others as the lessons are very beneficial and really enabled me to improve my capabilities in the English language.

My mentor at Good School Kovan, Mr Tan Wei Jie, is an inspiring and innovative teacher who never fails to impress upon his students the importance of having a passion for the English Language. I managed a grade jump of 2 grades for Secondary English from B3 to A1 while my friends were also able to achieve rather impressive results in their O levels. This is undoubtedly down to Good School's excellent and methodical teaching methods. Not to mention the care and love he showered upon us. Good School is an effective and quality learning hub. I would say that – with the right doses of hard work – will enable one to fulfill his/her academic goals.

Before joining Good School Kovan in 2018, I have always thought that there was no way for us to prepare for our English exam as it was a language based examination and there is no specific technique for us to follow in order to score well for the exam, unlike for math or science where the steps are similar and repetitive. English was always a “you know, you’ll know, you don’t know, you don’t know” subject. Peers in school would usually not be studying for their English exams and if you ask if they are prepared, they would often say there is nothing to study and to prepare for.

Let us take essay writing as an example. The intro to an essay is often told to us by our school's teacher that we need to include a thesis statement. What is a thesis statement? That was a question that was constantly repeated in my mind. Despite multiple consultations with my school teacher and searching it up on the internet, I still do not understand what a thesis statement is and how it is that we should write. I believe there were a handful of classmates who are as clueless as I was.

After I joined Good School, my tutor was there to teach me the skills that I would need to acquire with step by step assistance. Knowing what we are doing and is clear of our end goal that we are achieving and ensuring that we know how to write an intro of an essay on our own and have different variations with different approaches for different types of essays. Conducting a number of lessons to finetune our skills and to pinpoint the ways and methods we could use for essay writing and often giving us advice to look out for some issues that we would face. We were also taught on how to come up with a solution effectively and quickly if we were to face an issue while planning an essay introduction. This is something school teachers neglect and do not teach their students. They would often go through the brief understanding of the method and let us crash and burn by ourselves. Being in Good School learning hub makes me feel blessed and relieved that I am learning these methods to do well in the examination.

Using easy to understand words and simple drawings to bring out the key idea to us. Mr Tan conducts lively and entertaining lessons for his students with various interactive ways to have us engaged unlike traditional classes where the teacher would be talking for the whole time. The class size is small, usually quiet and is a conducive learning space for a lesson to be held. We are able to learn and to exchange knowledge with students from other schools who might be using the same or similar technique that is taught in school.

Mr Tan allows me to text him via WhatsApp and clarify my doubts although I understand that sometimes his reply may be slow as he has other students to tend to but I personally feel that it is very convenient for me to be able to clear my doubts easily and without having to worry that I would have to wait for the next lesson in-order for my questions to be clarified and answered.

I had a 5-grade improvement and scored a B4 for my O level English subject. I would strongly recommend it to my juniors as it is very effective and it ensures that they are at great advantage as compared to their peers in school.

Before I entered Good School Kovan, I was reluctant to have any tuition despite struggling in English. I wanted to be independent in my own learning and take charge of my studies. I thought I knew what to improve on, but after joining Good School, I found out there were more things I did not know that have caused me to do below the school standard (eg. vocab, did not know how to study for Eng).

In Good School, lessons are more interactive because the strength of the class is small, encouraging me to declare my doubts and not being afraid of being laughed at by others for my problems. My tutor, Mr Tan, doesn't scold us, but pushes me to go for the A1. He also listens to my queries after lessons which helps me consolidate my learning at the end of the lesson. He also pays to small details like my handwriting and advised me to try improve it. This was unlike my school which the teacher kept consultations short due to many students making appointments with them. My tutor's lessons are clear and he uses intriguingly strange but effective methods to help us understand lessons. (eg. Proposal Report with UN conference. With that, I can finally grasp the technique for Sit. Writing).

I like that there is a study corner where I can come whenever I want to consult him and do work for him to validate. (also the idea of selling snacks and drinks for students). I find the student support here great as Mr Tan is free to approach anytime for help, whether on WhatsApp or after lessons. Thanks to him and Good School, I improved my English grade from a borderline C6 to a B3 in O Level.

Even though i got a B3, Mr Tan always believed that I can get A1 for O level, which boosted my morale till JC. I would definitely recommend Good School to my friends because I am confident that one can improve tremendously in their grades if they put in hard work like my example.
