Before joining Good School, I wasn’t too confident in my English and I felt like I was winging my way through essays and comprehensions. I found my English grades going up and down and I got a B4 for prelims which made me worried for O Levels,  making me feel that English was a hit or miss.

Looking back, Mr Tan’s tuition helped me to open my eyes and broaden my perspective on the English language. With Mr Tan’s help, I found myself enjoying learning English as a language and started having fun doing comprehension and testing my English skills. The notes in the booklets and extra materials accompanied with Mr Tan’s constant guidance pushed me forward allowing me to secure a A1 for O Levels.

I would definitely recommend this tuition class as it really prepared me well for O Levels and I am truly grateful for it!!

When I first entered Secondary School, English became a lot harder and advanced. From doing simple vocabulary multiple choice questions in primary school to doing advanced comprehension, essays, situational writing and many more. As a result, I was not consistent in my English when it came too adding up the scores of every variations of English that I had learnt. From getting a grade 3 in my WAs but getting a grade 5 or worse for my End of Year exams.

As English was a lot harder to cope with, I joined Good School to have tuition for it to improve my results. When I first joined Good School, I was expecting the lessons to go in the same direction that majority of English tuitions go, where they would just teach us the basic way to answer questions. However, joining Good School's English lessons gave me a whole new perspective towards the language. Things like formats and models were taught and I found them interesting as I have never been taught to do my English papers this way every before. Not only that, but Mr Tan makes the lesson more interesting. For instance, he would always show us news articles at the start of lessons for us to possibly use some of these articles in our exams, this not only helps us in our exams but allow us to be more interested in coming to class as showing us articles rather than going straight into the usual comprehensions which can be boring for us students at times.

The centre's learning environment is extremely comfortable as well as the teacher would always give us a conducive and comfortable learning experience. For example, they would adjust the air conditioning if we feel too cold or too hot to make sure that we would be comfortable. My teacher is also always answering my questions when I message him, and it does not take him more than a day to answer them all the time, making it easier to learn even when I am not in class.

I got a grade 3 for an English, which is an improvement as I used to get a U grade. I would recommend Good School because they can help with all types of struggles that you are facing in your studies, and make u stronger in them to be better than everyone else in your class.

Prior to joining Good School I've always thought that English is a unique subject that has no structured way to revise. For example, I've always believed that the planned response component in Oral requires students to write down the complete script and later recite them to the examiner. Additionally, Comprehension was always a struggle for me as I could not answer some questions because I could not break it down into multiple digestible parts.

Good School's approach to English is rather unique yet effective because it utilises logic models to tackle questions that could seem to be overly-complex. By implementing the logic models, questions that appear overwhelming on the surface could be managed by drawing the 'OCE' diagram and listing the multiple evidence that are required in order to attain full marks.

I had a 4 grade improvement (D7 to B3) in the span of three months under Mr Tan's English class. I would recommend any math-oriented student that struggles in English to join Good School as complex terms would be broke down and 'rebranded' to mathematical terms to make life easier doing English. The OCE diagram does wonders as well because it is a flawless way to assure full marks if properly put in place.

For English, I never knew that there were techniques and methods to answer them and I would usually go with my gut feeling for the exam and not study as I did not know how to.

During Good School, I learnt about different logic models and techniques to help guide me to answer the question accurately. The support given during the classes was very effective and useful and I could easily understand it.

I had a 5 grade improvement and got B4  for my O levels, I would highly recommend Good School to others.

For English, I never knew how to exactly study for it. Such as, for composition, I didn't know how to make my composition more captivating and interesting. My understanding of word classes weren't the best either.

In English, during the lessons, I was able to understand and process my tutor's words and explanations as it was clear. Studying English becane easier and better for me. My tutor is more of a visual-learner, if that's how you say it. For example, for synthesis and transformation, if a question was hard to understand, he would (so called) act it out, so it'll be easier for us to understand. Same goes for composition too and lessons wouldn't be boring. The place has air conditioning on each room, so it won't be so hot contrasting to the weather outside. Pretty conductive place to study and learn in. Good support. It's easy to reach out to ask for help or questions to my tutor.

I improved in a lot of aspects in English ever since P4, when I started Good School. My different components scored higher, especially in my Language Use and Comprehension component. I would recommend Good School to my juniors as I think learning from here will benefit them in the long run to PSLE and O Levels too.

For English, I never passed my compositions before as I did not know any good words and phrases to add and I always wrote slowly as I did not know how to continue my story.

After joining Good School, I learnt how to use different words and phrases as well as how to write faster as I got more practice in writing. Mr Tan's advice on ways to improve helped me tremendously as well.

I would recommend Good School Learning Hub to others as the teachers give good advice on ways to improve.
